En 1988, en Berlín, se inicia la primera versión de “Love Parade”, rave que sólo unos(as) pocos(as) poseídos(as) por la música techno.

Un año después se produce la histórica caída de la Muralla de Berlín y esta ciudad se convierte en la capital de la fiesta en Europa. Por ese entonces nace el mítico e imprescindible club Tresor, entre la insípida arquitectura de la Alemania del Este.

En aquella época Tom Thiel ya se encuentra investigando con sus teclados, trabajando como ingeniero de sonido para D.A.F. y remezclando para CAN. En 1990, junto a Max Lodberauer forman Sun Electric para crear una música electrónica de las más finas producidas hasta el día de hoy. Cabe hacer notar que Arjunamusic lanzará a finales de noviembre una presentación en vivo de archivo de principios de los ’90.

“Emag Ballad” que abre este disco muestra el trabajo de Theil con la síntesis de sonido, en la que las frecuencias crean un sutil ritmo palpitante con breves clicks electroestáticos y drones. “Bursts” despliegue un sutil beat con atisbos al electro, en tanto “Lakeside” se desenvuelve en forma sigilosa con notas sintetizadas repetitivas y a un ritmo dub ralentizado, cruzado por grabaciones del ambiente (corrientes de agua y el canto de pájaros). “Fields” se arropa con una capa de loops al tiempo que se escuchan los ladridos de varios perros que algo amenazante ocurre allá fuera, junto a la percusión trepidante. El ruido de un objeto que marca un tiempo y diversas voces crean al comienzo una extraña atmósfera, pero que luego como telón de fondo, emergen unos coros celestiales. En “Bubbles” los sonidos abstractos dan paso a una suerte de sinfonía retro-futurista. “Spider” presenta las pulsaciones rítmicas más notorias que combinadas con las líneas sintetizadas atonales. En “Hydro” Thiel manipula las grabaciones de corrientes de agua que danzan a un ritmo exótico y pegadizo, al borde de lo lúdico. “Timeout” cierra “Album” con una bella melodía edificante que revolotea por el espacio.  

Tom Thiel nos adentra a una paleta de nuevos sonidos que nos invita a escucharlos y procesarlos en una experiencia inmersiva.

In 1988, in Berlin, the first version of “Love Parade” began, a rave that only gathered a few possessed by techno music.

A year later, the historic fall of the Berlin Wall occurred, and this city became the capital of Europe of the dance electronic music. At that time, the mythical and essential Tresor club was born, among the insipid architecture of East Germany.

At that time Tom Thiel was already researching with his keyboards, working as a sound engineer for D.A.F. and remixing for CAN. In 1990, alongside Max Lodberauer formed Sun Electric to create some of the finest electronic music produced to date. It should be noted that Arjunamusic will release an archival live performance from the early '90s late in November.

“Emag Ballad” that opens the album showcases Thiel's work with sound synthesis, in which frequencies create a subtle pulsating rhythm with brief electrostatic clicks and drones. “Bursts” displays a subtle beat with hints of electro, while “Lakeside” unfolds stealthily with repetitive synthesized notes and a slowed-down dub rhythm, crossed by environment (water fluids and birdsong) recordings. “Fields” is covered with a layer of loops while the barking of several dogs announce that something threatening happens out there, along with the fast-paced percussion. The noise of an object that marks a tempo and various voices create an uncanny atmosphere at first, but then as a backdrop, heavenly choirs emerge. On “Bubbles” the abstract sounds give way to a kind of retro-futuristic symphony. “Spider” features the most noticeable rhythmic pulses combined with atonal synthesized lines. On “Hydro” Thiel manipulates water currents recordings that dance in an exotic and catchy rhythm, bordering on the playful. “Timeout” closes “Album” with a beautiful uplifting melody that hover into space.

Tom Thiel introduces to a palette of new sounds and invites us to listen and process them in an immersive experience.
