Este es el cuarto álbum del músico experimental de Valparaíso, afincado en Olmué, Chile, Frank Millard y segundo en el sello Rata Sorda Rec., luego de “Inside the cluster” (2021). Además tiene editado algunos EP’s, single y ha participado en varios compilados, siendo el último de ellos "Jornada Ruido IV" (Rata Sorda Rec., 2022), actividad que se llevó a cabo el 29 de octubre de 2022, en el Espacio Manzano de la ciudad puerto y que reunió a una interesante camada de artistas de ruidismo y drone. Este compilado fue editado por Rata Sorda Rec. que tiene como base a Valparaíso.
Millard utiliza el software MPC, guitarra, sintetizadores y registros de sonido para desplegar una propuesta enraizada en los subgéneros del ambient, el drone y el ruido.
Millard se inspira en este disco en la revolución silenciosa que producen los Micelios que son la cara oculta de los hongos, vitales en los ecosistemas terrestres y acuáticos por su papel en la descomposición del material vegetal, además de contribuir a la fracción orgánica del suelo. Su crecimiento libera dióxido de carbono a la atmósfera. Estos hongos están en los subsuelos y tejen una red infinita. Por allí entonces, en lo profundo y con algunos visos de salir a la superficie, circulan las capas de líneas ambientales y aquellas que irrumpen con ráfagas de ruido como en los tracks “Underground rumbling (“Estruendos subterráneos”) con sus líneas sintetizadas oscuras; “Rising tides” ("Mareas crecientes") que despliega drones de guitarra saturada; “The quiet revolution” (“La revolución silenciosa”) y sus punzantes descargas eléctricas y “The aftermath” (“Las Secuelas”) son un buen ejemplo de esto último. “Subtle stirrings” (“Agitación sutil”) conforma una capa de drone que se desplaza como telón de fondo, junto a un diálogo abstracto de la guitarra, mientras no da tregua la atmósfera elegíaca de “A new dawn” (“Un nuevo amanecer") con su solapado beat como si fuera un latigazo que se disuelve en el fragor de las notas sostenidas.
“Whispers in the wind” (“Susurros en el viento”) muestra un nudo de guitarras arremolinadas que susurran melodías edificantes que se suspenden en el espacio. En tanto los pasajes ambientales como “The calm before the storm” ("La calma antes de la tormenta"), los acordes de la guitarra brillan con una luz esperanzadora y continúan su viaje con “A new era” (“Una nueva era”).
Frank Millard nos remite a esta revolución silenciosa que se desarrolla bajo nuestros pies que apreciamos y también ignoramos, cuyo correlato musical es una amalgama de ambientes turbulentos y estridentes, con otros sosegados y melódicos.

This is the fourth album by the experimental musician from Valparaíso and now based in Olmué, Chile, Frank Millard, and second on Rata Sorda Rec label, after “Inside the cluster” (2021). He has also released some EP's, a single and has participated in several compilations, the last of which was “Jornada Ruido IV” (Rata Sorda Rec., 2022), an gid that took place on October 29, 2022, at Espacio Manzano in the port city that gathered together an interesting noise and drone artists. This compilation was released by Rata Sorda Rec. imprint which is based in Valparaíso.
Millard uses MPC software, guitar, synthesizers and sound recordings to deploy a proposal rooted in the subgenres of ambient, drone and noise.
In this album, Millard is inspired by the quiet revolution produced by Mycelia, which are the hidden face of muchrooms, vital in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems due to their role in the decomposition of plant material, in addition to contributing to the organic fraction of the soil. Their growth releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. These muchrooms are in the underground and weave an infinite network. There then, deep down and with some signs of coming to the surface, the layers of ambient lines unfurl and those that burst like bursts of noise as in the tracks “Underground rumbling” that unfold dark synthesized lines; “Rising tides” that deploys saturated guitar drones; “The quiet revolution” and its stinging electric shocks and “The aftermath” are a good example of the latter. “Subtle stirrings” shape a layer of drones that moves as a backdrop, along with an abstract guitar dialogue, while the elegiac atmosphere of “A new dawn” (“Un nuevo amanecer”) with its overlapping beat as if it were a whiplash that dissolves in the roar of the sustained notes.
“Whispers in the Wind” features a knot of swirling guitars that whisper uplifting melodies that hover into space. In the ambient passages like “The calm before the storm,” ("La calma antes de la tormenta") the guitar chords shine with a hopeful light and continue its journey on “A new Era” (“Una nueva Era”).
Frank Millard refers us to this quiet revolution developing under our feet that we appreciate and also ignore, whose musical correlation is an amalgam of turbulent and strident ambience, with other calm and melodic motifs.
