Theodore Cale Schafer es un productor de música electrónica, e ingeniero de audio de Michigan (EE.UU.) y que actualmente reside en Nueva York. Ha editado ocho discos editados en su página de Bandcamp y al menos otros cinco álbumes editados en sellos independientes, una producción importante para un joven músico de 29 años. Ha colaborado con Natalia Panzer, Angelo Harmsworth, Claire Rousay, Sydney Spann y Picnic. 

“Trust”, es el segundo álbum de una trilogía para publicarse en el sello de Cincinnati, Ohio, Students of Decay, luego de su anterior álbum “Patience” (Students of Decay, 2019).

Schafer toca el piano, utiliza grabaciones y dispositivos electrónicos para componer ocho piezas en las que se funden el ambient y el neoclásico.

Abre el disco con “It's A Mistake To Wait” donde extractos de ruidos son el telón de fondo para unas breves y polvorientas notas de piano low-fi. En “Best Friend” tanto en el comienzo de esta canción como hacia el final, se escuchan retazos de conversaciones ininteligibles que producen un espacio de intimidad y evocador de imágenes, embellecidas por unos motivos de piano. En “Luck” una sesión de cuerdas clásicas que danzan con elegancia, en tanto en “Never-Never” el piano se desarrolla sigilosamente, junto a un arreglo de cuerdas refinadas que se siguen desplegando con soltura en las canciones “Tristan” y “Mansfield”. “See You Soon” se baña en las aguas del ambient con delicadeza, cerrando así un álbum sobrio, delicado y especialmente emotivo.

Theodore Cale Schafer is an electronic music producer and audio engineer from Michigan (USA) and currently based in New York. He has released eight albums on his Bandcamp page, and at least five other albums released on independent labels, an important production for a young 29-year-old musician. He has collaborated with Natalia Panzer, Angelo Harmsworth, Claire Rousay, Sydney Spann and Picnic.

“Trust” is the second album in a trilogy to be released on the Cincinnati, Ohio Students of Decay label, following the previous “Patience” album (Students of Decay, 2019).

Schafer plays the piano and his own recordings plus electronic devices to compose eight pieces in which ambient and neoclassical merge.

In the opener “It's A Mistake To Wait”, noise excerpts are the backdrop for brief low-fi dusty piano notes. On “Best Friend” both at the beginning of the piece and towards the end, snippets of unintelligible conversations are heard, producing a space of intimacy and evocative of images, embellished by some piano motifs. On “Luck” a session of classical strings dance with elegance, while on “Never-Never” the piano develops stealthily, along with an arrangement of refined strings that continue to be deployed with ease in the songs “Tristan” and “Mansfield.” “See You Soon” delicately washes of ambient atmospherics, thus closing a sober, delicate and especially emotional album.
