Desde 2019, el músico ambiental chileno Iván Aguayo conocido por su proyecto Bahía Mansa, ha puesto el medio ambiente y la fotografía análoga como las fuentes de inspiración para la creación musical, utilizando dispositivos electrónicos y registros de campo, cuya producción ha plasmado en veinte discos publicados en Bandcamp.

Yama Yuki es compositor y artista sonoro residente en Tokio con una producción de cuatro discos desde 2020 y es miembro del dúo Sogahukau.

Esta colaboración consistió en el intercambio de material, donde cada uno de ellos retrabajó la dimensión sonora del mar del otro. 

El disco incluye cuatro temas de música ambient/electrónica, comenzando por “Carta Atlántica I”, en el que temblorosas texturas de un sintetizador se combinan con furtivos sonidos de agua. En “Carta Atlántica II” aparecen voces de niños jugando en la playa, creando con ello un ambiente placentero para un largo viaje acompañado de teclados ambientales. “Carta Pacífica I” despliega sinuosas notas sintéticas que develan un diálogo fecundo de bellas melodías, mientras emerge una gruesa capa de un mar encrespado y ruidoso como telón de fondo. Cierra este disco “Carta Pacífica II” con trepidantes vibraciones de pads que generan un ambiente inquietante.

Bahía Mansa & Yama Yuki crean un paisaje sonoro que evoca al mar que ha enseñado que nada permanece, que todo está en permanente cambio y transformación.

Since 2019 the Chilean ambient musician Iván Aguayo, known by his Bahía Mansa project, has put the environment and analog photography as sources of inspiration for musical creation, using electronic devices and field recordings, whose production has embodied twenty albums released on Bandcamp.

Yama Yuki is a Tokyo-based composer and sound artist with a four-disc output since 2020 and member of the Sogahukau duo.

This collaboration consisted of an exchange of material, where each one reworked the sound dimension of the other's sea.

The album includes four tracks of ambient/electronic music, opening with “Carta Atlántica I” in which trembling synthesizer textures are combined with the furtive water sounds. On “Carta Atlántica II” voices of children playing on the beach appear, creating a pleasant atmosphere for a long journey accompanied by ambient keyboards. “Carta Pacífica I” displays sinuous synthetic notes that reveal a fruitful dialogue of beautiful melodies, while a thick layer of a rough and noisy sea emerges as a backdrop. “Carta Pacífica II” closes this album with fast-paced pads vibrations that create a disquieting atmosphere.

Bahía Mansa & Yama Yuki create a soundscape that evokes the sea that has taught that nothing remains, that everything is in permanent change and transformation.
