El sello francés Laaps lanza el sexto álbum de Ned Milligan, un maestro de escuela primaria en Nueva York, quien compone y produce su música en forma esporádica, además de gestionar desde 2015 su sello Florabelle.

“Considerable” consiste en ocho tracks de ambient en el que Milligan está premunido de campanas, tambores cantores, autoarpa y grabaciones de campo. 

Me imagino a Milligan tocando en su casa y también fuera de ella estos instrumentos, mientras el oyente escucha atentamente las texturas que construye con el roce de los objetos metálicos, los timbres de las campanas y tambores cantores que resplandecen. Unos sigilosos acordes de guitarra, los ruidos de pisadas, cantos de pájaros, pequeños golpes a los cuencos cantores e incluso el silencio y el canto improvisado de la pareja de Milligan, crean un ambiente íntimo, apacible; son aquellos momentos que queremos atesorar, evocar y agradecer ante la vorágine del día a día.

The French label Laaps releases the sixth album by Ned Milligan, an elementary school teacher in New York, who composes and produces his music sporadically, in addition to run the Florabelle label since 2015.

“Considerable” consists of eight ambient tracks in which Milligan works with chimes, singing drum, autoharp and field recordings.

I imagine Milligan playing these instruments at home and outdoors as well, while the listener draws its attention intently, to the textures he builds with the rubbing of metal objects, the ringing of bells and glowing singing drums. A few stealthy guitar chords, the noise of footsteps, bird song, small blows over the singing bowls, and even silence and an improvised singing of Milligan’s partner, create an intimate and peaceful atmosphere; They are those moments that we want to treasure, evoke and thank in the maelstrom of everyday life.
