Esta es la tercera colaboración entre Sicker Man (Chelo eléctrico y efectos) y Manuel Klotz (vocales y electrónica), quienes residen en Berlín. 

Después de su cinta debut “Cherish the Chants” (Loftparty Records, 2020) y su contribución al lanzamiento en vinilo “Sicker Man–dialog” (Blankrecords, 2021), vuelven a la carga con “Havoc”.

Manuel Klotz participa en las bandas Dead Hand, Giardini, Loft Party y es dueño del sello Loft Editions. En tanto que Tobias Vethake aka Sicker Man, participa en el grupo Mini Pops Junior y trabaja en los campos de la música para cine, teatro, radioteatro, instalaciones y performances y ha editado varios discos con sus diferentes proyectos en su propio sello Blankrecords.

El dúo se sumerge en la marea del drone, los viajes lisérgicos de la psicodelia y la disonancia del noise que destilan en tres tracks que me evocan a los ruidos electrizantes de Sarin Smoke o Dave Phillips. 

El disco comienza con “Cataract” con el spoken-word de Klotz que es absorbido por la muralla de distorsión del chelo y los sombríos silbidos atmosféricos del sintetizador. En “Cloud Busting” se ciernen zumbidos sintéticos ambientales, mientras se frota el arco sobre el chelo desplegando un densa y sucia capa de ruido. “No Breath” muestra borbotones de clicks, un remolino delirante del chelo, la voz moribunda y los gritos enardecidos de Klotz en un frenético entramado de tonos abrasivos, donde el chelo de Man expele riffs a como si fuera en una guitarra. 

Como indica el título de este álbum, “Havoc”, es un caos sonoro que logra un arrebatador ruido que no es ensordecedor, sino que sucumbe en los brazos de la distorsión donde asoman bordes melódicos.

This is the third collaboration between Sicker Man (electric cello and effects) and Manuel Klotz (vocals and electronics), who reside in Berlin.

After their debut tape “Cherish the Chants” (Loftparty Records, 2020) and their contribution to the vinyl release “Sicker Man–dialog” (Blankrecords, 2021), they return with “Havoc”.

Manuel Klotz participates in the bands Dead Hand, Giardini, Loft Party and is the owner of the Loft Editions label. While Tobias Vethake aka Sicker Man, participates in the Mini Pops Junior group and works in the fields of music for film, theater, radio theater, installations and performances and has released several albums with his different projects on his own Blankrecords label.

The duo plunges into the tide of drone, the lysergic trips of psychedelia and the dissonance of noise that they distill into three tracks that evoke the electrifying noises of Sarin Smoke or Dave Phillips.

The record opens with “Cataract” with Klotz's spoken-word being absorbed by the cello's wall of distortion and the gloomy atmospheric whoosh of the synth. On “Cloud Busting” ambient synthetic hums loom as the bow is rubbed across the cello unfolding a thick, dirty layer of noise. “No Breath” shows gushes of clicks, a delirious cello swirl, the dying voice and the inflamed screams of Klotz in a frenetic lattice of abrasive tones, where Man's cello spews out riffs like in a guitar.

As the title of this album indicates, “Havoc”, it is a sound chaos that achieves a captivating noise that is not deafening, but rather succumbs into the arms of distortion where melodic edges emerge.
