Paw Grabowski es una artista de collage y músico de Dinamarca que trabaja bajo los seudónimos de øjeRum y Lapith Girl. Su último disco como øjeRum, “Vågnende Jeg Ser De Døde” (“Despertando veo a los muertos”) se grabó durante las vacaciones de Semana Santa de 2022, oportunidad en la que tocó un viejo piano en una antigua casa aislada en el campo danés. 

Grabowski se percató que durante la grabación había interferencia con la señal, por las ondas de radio y la electricidad estática. Por este hecho recordó que el músico británico Robin Rimbaud trabajaba con ondas de radio y conversaciones telefónicas, lo que lo motivó a contactarlo. El resultado de esta conversación fueron dos remezclas que aportó Scanner a este disco que consiste en tres largos tracks. La apertura la hace la pieza que da título al álbum en la que se desenvuelve una secuencia de frases de piano de carácter nostálgico. El estribillo de piano gira lentamente como si fuera parte de una caja musical con sublimes notas que recorren un bello paisaje. La primera remezcla de Scanner es “Sleeping, I'm Blind to Life (Variation)”, un track expansivo que se mueve por las aguas del ambient, donde se aprecian a los lejos conversaciones de personas y atmósferas de drones. La segunda remezcla es “Sleeping, I'm Blind to Life (Drifting Variation)” y con ella cierra este disco que consiste en una mezcla de notas de piano (o similar), junto a envolventes nubes de tonos saturados. 

Escuchar este disco de øjeRum es una experiencia inmersiva pues las zonas ambientales son vastas y la música sigue resonando en el espacio llevando al oyente a un estado hipnótico y plácido.

Paw Grabowski is a collage artist and musician from Denmark who works under the monikers øjeRum y Lapith Girl. His last album as øjeRum, “Vågnende Jeg Ser De Døde” (“Awakening I See The Dead”) was recorded during the Easter holidays of 2022, when he played an old piano in an isolated old house in the Danish countryside. Grabowski realized that during the recording there was interference with the signal, from radio waves and static electricity. Due to this fact, he remembered that the British musician Robin Rimbaud worked with radio waves and police scanners, which motivated him to get in touch. As a result of this conversation, Scanner contributed with two remixes to this album that consists of three long-form tracks. The opening is made by the piece that gives the album its title, in which a sequence of nostalgic piano phrases unfolds. The piano refrains rotates slowly as if it were part of a music box with sublime notes that run through a beautiful landscape. The first remix by Scanner, “Sleeping, I'm Blind to Life (Variation)”, is an expansive track that moves through the waters of Ambient, where people's conversations and drone atmospheres can be appreciated from afar. The second remix, “Sleeping, I'm Blind to Life (Drifting Variation)” and with it closes this album consist is a blend of piano (or alike) notes and enveloping clouds of overdriven tones.

Listening to this øjeRum album is an immersive experience as the Ambient zones are vast and the music continues to resonate in space, taking the listener to a hypnotic and placid state.
