Este es el primer disco de este año que publica bajo su propio nombre en su sello/estudio Pulsewidth, el artista sonoro y visual David Lee Myers, músico experimental que trabaja también con el seudónimo de Arcane Device. 

En sus composiciones utiliza electrónica modular, matrices de feedback, texturas de guitarra, diversidad de tonos y variantes polirítmicas. 

En "Ceremonial Fires" David pone el acento en las poliritmias, no obstante bajo la superficie, siguen presentes la madeja de ruidos orgánicos. Pero a esta diversidad de ritmos, se le agregan voces sampleadas que le dan un toque tribal. Todo ello cubierto en un marco minimalista y ciertamente cercano a una forma bailable. Es notable cómo Myers samplea la voz que utiliza en “Snap pea soup”, donde los retazos de sonidos toman la forma del canto de un pájaro invitando a un juego lúdico. “Smoke signals” es el preámbulo a ese carácter primitivo y tribal que tiene este disco.  

En la medida que avanza el disco, cada track sorprende por los pulsos rítmicos dada la naturaleza de su sonido y timbres que, si se tomaran por separados, no lograrían encajar la percusión. Sin embargo, el cómo se organizan y engranan conforman una estructura rítmica sólida. “Compactor” parece que fuera una danza tribal que se combina con líneas sintetizadas complejas. “Healing spear” con sus notas repetitivas y voces amorfas devela tonos oscuros y temblorosos. Este ambiente sombrío crea una atmósfera torcida y espeluznante.

This is the first album this year released under his own name on his label/studio Pulsewidth, sound and visual artist David Lee Myers, an experimental musician who also works under his moniker Arcane Device.

In his compositions he uses modular electronics, feedback matrices, guitar textures, wide array of tones and polyrhythmic variants.

On "Ceremonial Fires" David emphasizes the polyrhythms, however beneath the surface, the skein of organic noises is still present. But to this diversity of rhythms, sampled voices are added giving it a tribal touch. all of this wrapped up in a minimalist framework and certainly close to a danceable form. It is notable how Myers samples the voice he uses in “Snap pea soup”, where the snippets of sounds take the form of a chirping bird inviting to a playful game. “Smoke signals” is the preamble to that primitive and tribal character that this record exudes.

As the album progresses, each track surprises with its rhythmic pulses given the nature of its sound and timbres that, if taken separately, the percussion would not fit together. Nevertheless, how they are organized and meshed make up a solid rhythmic structure. “Compactor” looks like a tribal dance that is blend with complex synth lines. “Healing spear” with its repetitive notes and amorphous vocals reveals dark and quivering tones. This gloomy environment creates a twisted and creepy atmosphere.
