“Aftershock Vol. 2” es la segunda entrega de “Aftershock” (2021, Subcontinental Records) que realizaron Zabelka e Icostech y que en esta oportunidad se incorpora, el músico sueco Henrik Meierkord.

Mia Zabelka es una violinista, improvisadora y compositora contemporánea austriaca, quien en este disco toca el violín, dispositivos electrónicos, voz y atmósfera, Henrik Meierkord lo hace en chelo y atmósfera e Icostech (aka Arun Natarajan, reside en India), toca la guitarra, bajo, djembe y mezcla final. Como invitado Joshua Trinidad toca la trompeta.

“Aftershock Vol. 2” navega por los estilos ambient, vanguardia e improvisación con guiños al jazz. “Primordial Chains” despliega una densa colección de electrónica para crear bellas atmósferas junto a la ensoñadora voz de Zabelka, mientras los urgentes movimientos de las cuerdas generan momentos inquietantes. Las pulsaciones rítmicas y teclados oscuros en “Tech 2417 (Aftershock Pt. 2)” en la vena techo industrial. “Interlude” muestra los acordes en el bajo de Icostech que hace de este track, una pieza fresca de jazz improvisado que luego en “Faux Pas” se torna un torbellino sonoro.

Este álbum expone distintos estilos musicales que logran plasmarse en una propuesta sólida junto a la experiencia y creatividad de sus músicos particpantes.

“Aftershock Vol. 2” is the second installment of “Aftershock” (2021, Subcontinental Records) composed by Zabelka and Icostech and this occasion includes Swedish musician Henrik Meierkord.

Mia Zabelka is an Austrian contemporary violinist, improviser and composer, who on this record plays violin, electronics, voice and ambience, Henrik Meierkord plays cello and ambience and Icostech (aka Arun Natarajan, based in India), plays guitar , bass, djembe and final mix. As a guest Joshua Trinidad plays the trumpet.

“Aftershock Vol. 2” unfolds ambient, avant-garde and improvisational styles with nods to jazz. “Primordial Chains” deploys a dense collection of electronics to create dreamy atmospheres together with Zabelka's celestial voice, while the urgent movements of the strings produce disturbing moments. The rhythmic pulsations and dark keyboards on “Tech 2417 (Aftershock Pt. 2)” are in the industrial techno vein, while "Interlude" shows Icostech's bass chords that make this track a fresh piece of improvised jazz that later becomes a sound whirlwind in "Faux Pas".

This album exposes different musical styles that manage to translate into a solid proposal together with the experience and creativity of its musicians.
