Adam H. es un músico y compositor norteamericano residente en Berlín, quien participa como uno de los guitarristas en el álbum "Harmonie Du Soir" (Northern Spy, 2013) del connotado compositor y guitarrista Rhys Chatham. En 2017, se lanza su disco "Abolition" (T-Rec, L'autre Distribution) y en 2021, el sello de Seattle Debacle Records publica “Elements”, como también su más reciente LP “Floods”, en octubre pasado.
Para este nuevo álbum Adam – así como para “Elements” - invita a músicos amigos: Kid Millions (Oneida) en la batería, Jim Sauter (Borbetomagus) en saxofón, Tim Dahl (Child Abuse, Lydia Lunch Retrovirus) en bajo guitarra y bajo doble, Sarah Bernstein (dúo con Kid Millions, Veer Quartet) en violín. Adam H. toca la guitarra acústica, sintetizadores, a cargo de la dirección creativa y voz.
Una buen parte de este álbum se basa en la improvisación, en consecuencia los créditos de la composición se denomina como "música compuesta en colaboración".
Este disco consiste en dos largos tracks, el primero de ellos, “The Flood of 1997”, se refiere a dos hechos ocurridos en 1997: La inundación del Río de Ohio (la mayor en sesenta años), en Louisville, Kentucky que causó graves daños materiales y en vidas humanas. El otro hecho, es la llegada de OxyContin, una droga altamente adictiva y comúnmente abusada que introdujo la familia Sackler y con la que obtuvo importantes ganancias. Adam comenta en un video publicado en Bandcamp junto al track "The Flood of 1997" que, al leer un artículo en New Yorker supo del problema de adicción que estaba afectando a algunos amigos o refereridos con esta droga.
"The Flood of 1997" es una pieza experimental e improvisación rock de 17 minutos que comienza con suaves acordes de guitarra acústica de Adam, para que luego entren lentamente distorsionadas guitarras, golpes aleatorios de la batería produciendo una estruendosa y densa muralla sonora. Previo a que termine el track, Adam vuelve con su guitarra acústica y canta con una voz compungida una sentida canción. El segundo track "The Flood of 2060" es una mirada al futuro no muy auspicioso, en el que está quedando poca tierra por inundarse, dadas las previsiones en el cambio climático para los próximos años.
Este segundo tema es un viaje de casi de 21 minutos en el que las guitarras serpentean alrededor con sus delays y otros efectos, mientras un drone sirve como marco de fondo para este duelo de guitarras de bordes oscuros.
Adam H. en este trabajo íntimo que comparte algunas ideas musicales básicas, a sus amigos músicos, se convierte en dos potentes tracks que despliegan una amalgama de sonidos que mantienen al(la) oyente inquieto(a) y expectante.

For the new album Adam - as for "Elements" - invites fellow musicians: Kid Millions (Oneida) on drums, Jim Sauter (Borbetomagus) on saxophone, Tim Dahl (Child Abuse, Lydia Lunch Retrovirus) on bass guitar, double bass, Sarah Bernstein (duo with Kid Millions, Veer Quartet) on violin. Adam H. plays acoustic guitar, synthesizers, creative direction and vocals.
Most of the LP is based on improvisation, consequently the songwriting credits are referred to as "collaboratively composed music".
This album consists of two long-form tracks, the first one, "The Flood of 1997", refers to two events that occurred in 1997: The Ohio River flood (the largest in sixty years), in Louisville, Kentucky, that caused serious property damage and human lives. The other fact is the arrival of OxyContin, a highly addictive and commonly abused drug that the Sackler family introduced and made significant profits. Adam comments in a video posted on Bandcamp along with the track "The Flood of 1997" that, upon reading an article in the New Yorker, he gets to know of the addiction problem that was affecting some friends or referrals with this drug.
"The Flood of 1997" is a 17-minute piece of experimental and improv rock that starts with a smooth acoustic guitar chord from Adam, then slowly creeps in with distorted guitars, off kilter drum hits producing a thick, thunderous wall of sound. Before the track ends, Adam returns with his acoustic guitar and sings a heartfelt song in a rueful vocals. The second track "The Flood of 2064" hasn’t an auspicious future, since there is little land left to be flooded, given the climate change forecasts for the coming years.
This second track is a nearly 21-minute journey as guitars meander around with their delays and other effects, while a drone serves as the backdrop for this dark-edged duel of guitars.
Adam H. in this intimate work that shares some basic musical ideas with his musician friends, becomes in two powerful tracks that display an amalgamation of sounds that keep the listener restless and expectant.
