La francesa Léa Massé bajo el seudónimo de Wārheād, afincada en Holanda, edita su primer disco para el sello de Augsburg, Alemania, Attenuation Circuit, prolífica etiqueta en publicar a artistas de música experimental.

Este disco termina con “Primis Tenebris”, un track silencioso donde las melancólicas melodías transmiten pasividad y calma. Quizás un contrapunto al resto del álbum, en el que tenemos en el arranque a “Threshold” con una atmósfera oscura, continuando con  un hip-hop-industrial que se plasma en “Dissolution”, el que me recordó por algunos momentos a Scorn con sus pesados beats y resonantes bombos. Luego en “Denuo excitetur” aparecen los ritmos tribales y cánticos con influencia del Medio Oriente. “Insanire” continua con la percusión tribal que se transforma como un mantra. “Consummatum est” y sus espirales etéreos de guitarra, dan paso a expansivos drones y guitarras ruidosas, en tanto “Psylobe” y su peculiar ritmo entrecortado, despliega un feedback de guitarra estridente. El álbum toma más fuerza con los ritmos palpitantes de “Straight lines” ft. TONTO y los beats bailables de “Rituzoid” que son tan inesperados como sorprendentes. 

Léa Massé logra plasmar distintas influencias y hacer un disco equilibrado y buena factura.

The French Léa Massé under the moniker of Wārheād, based in the Netherlands, releases her first album for the label of Augsburg, Germany, Attenuation Circuit, a prolific imprint in publishing experimental music artists.

This album ends with “Primis Tenebris”, a silent track where the wistful melodies convey passivity and calm. Perhaps a counterpoint to the rest of the album, in which we have “Threshold” at the start with a dark atmosphere, continuing with a hip-hop-industrial that is reflected in “Dissolution”, which reminded me for a few moments to Scorn with its heavy beats and resounding kick drums. Whereas “Denuo excitetur” deploys tribal rhythms and chants influenced by the Middle East appear. “Insanire” continues with the tribal percussion that transforms into a mantra. “Consummatum est” and its ethereal guitar spirals giving way to expansive drones and noisy guitars, while “Psylobe” and its distinctive staccato rhythm unfurls raucous guitar feedback. The album picks up steam with the throbbing rhythms of “Straight lines” ft. TONTO and the dance beats of “Rituzoid” both unexpected as striking.

Léa Massé manages to capture different influences and make a well-balanced and well-crafted album.
