Nacido en Riga, Letonia, Viktor Timofeev es un músico que tiene un magister en Rotterdam y un Bachiller en Nueva York en Bellas Artes, en donde vive y trabaja actualmente.

Trabaja en los campos de la curatoría, instalaciones sonoras y es compositor. Ha editado seis álbumes hasta ahora y el disco a revisar, es su segundo disco en el sello de Brooklyn Lo Bit Landscapes después de “GIVE_HEALTH999”. “Palace of Peace and Reconciliation” fue creado, grabado y prensado en 2016, sin embargo dada la cuarentena el sello se mantuvo cerrado y en agosto último vio la luz finalmente.

En “Tevek Fritoiov” Timofeev crea espacios amplios y profundos a través loops de guitarra, sampleos y drones de bajos. Se puede apreciar la influencia de Coil por esa marea de notas sintéticas inquietantes y oscuras. En tanto "Memoratorium" sorprende por el contraste con el primer track y su influencia indie de la guitarra melódica que me recuerda a Nihiti/Julia Reidy/Port-Royal. Pero en “Portal of Accord (feat. Alienboy)” Timofeev vuelve a explorar los paisajes sonoros oscuros que flirtean con el Black Metal/Doom, especialmente cuando hacia el final de este track, el sonido se pulveriza y se convierte en polvo. La última pista “Portal of Zin 2” revela el aspecto grandilocuente y el carácter épico con sonido de órgano y notas ambientales del sintetizador. Timofeev crea un mundo sonoro complejo que a su vez invita a sumergirse en su mar de turbulentos collages sonoros.

Born in Riga, Latvia, Viktor Timofeev is a musician with a master's degree in Rotterdam and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New York where he currently lives and works.

He works in the fields of curatorship, sound installations and composition. He has released six albums so far and the album I’m reviewing is his second album on the Brooklyn Lo Bit Landscapes imprint after “GIVE_HEALTH999”. "Palace of Peace and Reconciliation" was created, recorded and pressed in 2016, however, given the lockdown, the label remained closed but last August finally saw the light of the day.

In “Tevek Fritoiov” Timofeev creates wide and deep spaces through guitar loops, samples and bass drones. The influence of Coil can be appreciated by that tide of dark and haunting synthetic notes. Meanwhile "Memoratorium" surprises with the contrast with the first track because its indie influence of melodic guitar that reminds me of Nihiti / Julia Reidy / Port-Royal. But on “Portal of Accord (feat. Alienboy)” Timofeev explores the dark soundscapes that flirt with Black Metal / Doom, especially when towards the end of the track, the sound is pulverized and turned to dust. The final track “Portal of Zin 2” reveals the bombastic look and epic character with organ sound and ambient synth notes. Timofeev creates a complex sound world that in turn invites the listener to dive into its sea of turbulent sound collages.
