Este es un nuevo disco de Hugo Espinosa aka Mika Martini y el tercero como Frank Benkho, quien en este álbum básicamente toca los sintetizadores Casiotone MT-65 y el MT-68 que se desarrollaron en los '80, por la compañía Casio y que tenían entre otras características, imitar sonidos de instrumentos, además de generar ritmos de batería y líneas de bajo. Utiliza también otros dispositivos analógicos para producir efectos.

El teclado Casio evoca un sonido que nos remonta a un tiempo en que el juguete cumplía un rol importante en nuestras vidas y en donde pecábamos de ingenuos (afortunadamente). “Plays the Casiotone”, además del carácter lúdico que tiene - su esencia profunda - nos remite a la nostalgia con escenas de películas sesenteras y estética art-deco. En este álbum también es protagonista el Pop cuyos rumbos no están dejados al azar, sino que guardan compostura y elegancia, característica que envuelve a todas las canciones. Desde “Malibú” que destila melancolía, pasando por el romántico “Love Boat”, continuando con el aire caribeño de “Bossa Nova de Balcón”, la zona ambiental de “Abraza tu barricada interior”, el sugestivo “Profesor Domeyko”, hasta el juguetón “Miniatura”.

Este es un disco de muy buena factura que releva el Casiotone como un instrumento musical clave hace dos décadas atrás y que hoy cobra igual importancia por su sonido encantador y por la gran sensibilidad de Frank Benkho.

This is a new installment by Chilean Hugo Espinosa aka Mika Martini and the third one under the moniker of Frank Benkho, who in this album exclusively plays the Casiotone MT-65 and MT-68 synthesizers developed in the '80s by the Casio company and that had among other features, mimic instrument sounds, as well as auto-accompaniment drum beats and bass lines. He also uses other analog devices to produce effects.

The Casio keyboard conjure up a sound that takes us back to a time when the toys played an important role in our lives and where we were naive (fortunately). "Plays the Casiotone", in addition to its playful character - its deep essence - refers us to nostalgia with movies scenes from the sixties and art-deco aesthetics. This album also features Pop whose twists and turns are not left to chance, as they have composure and elegance that features and covers all the songs. From “Malibú” that exudes melancholy, passing through the romantic “Love Boat”, following with the Caribbean air on “Bossa Nova de Balcón”, the ambient zone on “Abraza tu barricada interior”, the suggestive “Profesor Domeyko”, to the playful "Miniatura".

This is a very well-crafted album that relieved the Casiotone as a key musical instrument of two decades ago and that nowadays takes on equal importance for its charming sound, along with Frank Benkho’s great sensitivity.
