Christophe Havard es un compositor, interprete, improvisador de música electroacústica y concreta, iniciando su carrera como saxofonista de jazz. Desde hace unos quince años realiza instalaciones sonora y piezas electroacústicas y radiofónicas.

Caroline Gagné es una artista sonora que desarrolla su trabajo en base a los sitios que explora, utilizando el arte público, el dibujo, arte medial, instalaciones y audio arte.

Ambos se reúnen para trabajar en “Rivages” que consiste en tres piezas: un folleto impreso, un álbum digital de piezas de audio y una instalación sonora y cinética.

Esta obra tiene como espacio sonoro a investigar, lo que se extiende entre el estuario (vastas zonas húmedas) del Loira y el río San Lorenzo. Para ello trabajaron en técnicas de grabación de campo, fotos, videos, arreglos de piano, frecuencias de audio e impresiones producidas por objetos en movimiento. En particular observaron la evolución de las mareas y las ondas sonoras que producen, cómo se configuran y relacionan el espacio y el tiempo en este lugar, la diferencia horaria, el cambio de horas, días y noches, cuestiones de distancia y proximidad, las fases de la Luna y su atracción gravitacional.

El diálogo entre Cagné y Havard, el sonido de aves, del agua, e crujido de puertas, los pasos de algún andante, el ruido de un avión, grabaciones de radio, etc. tejen el relato de este entorno natural, donde la naturaleza prevalece, con un tiempo que tiene su propio ritmo y un espacio vasto con su eco, resonancia y silencio. Todo ello interrumpido por unas breves notas de piano que se descuelgan y dejan en suspenso el resto de la pieza melódica y pone pausa al relato y al movimiento que hay en esta zona natural.

Christophe Havard is a composer, performer, improviser of electroacoustic and concrete music, beginning his career as a jazz saxophonist. For about fifteen years he has been creating sound installations and electro-acoustic and radio pieces.

Caroline Gagné is a sound artist who develops her work based on the sites she explores, using public art, drawing, media art, installations and audio art.

The two meet to work on “Rivages” which consists of three pieces: a printed brochure, a digital album of audio pieces and a sound and cinetic installation.

This work has as a sound space to investigate, what stretches between the estuary (vast humid areas) of the Loire and the Saint Lawrence River. For this they worked on field recordings techniques, photos, videos, piano arrangements, audio frequencies and impressions produced by moving objects. In particular, they observed the evolution of the tides and the sound waves they produce, how space and time are configured and related in this place, the time difference, the change of hours, days and nights, questions of distance and proximity, the phases of the Moon and its gravitational pull.

The dialogue between Cagné and Havard, bird songs, water, and the creaking of doors, the footsteps of a walker, the noise of an airplane, radio recordings, etc. weave a story of this natural environment, where nature prevails, with a time that has its own rhythm and a vast space with its echo, resonance and silence. All this is interrupted by a few short piano notes that hang down and leave the rest of the melodic piece in suspense and pause the story and the movement of this natural area.
