French composer, musician and producer Angèle David-Guillou is releasing her third album, preceded by the EP “Sans Mouvement”.
She is classical music trained and her main instrument is the piano, she also plays the Theremin and various other instruments.
"A Question of Angles" the main basis of her sound base are a saxophone octet and a string septet inspired by the films of Jean Cocteau.
In the opening piece of this album, "Valley Of Detachment" the saxophones attack with force, accompanied by a roll of drums.
A theremin that superbly emulates a female voice in the title track, has a nostalgic character that flies high. Beautiful piece.
"Absolutely Not" is a track where the suspended piano notes alternate with clarinet and string instruments.
A cello shapes “Akrotiri” displaying a beautiful courtly rhythm. "Forgetting Trees" shows a dialogue between the fagot and the flute. The trombones on "Quid Pro Quo" go in crescendo until they meet a beautiful celestial choir.
David-Guillou’s third album is a gorgeous piece of modern composition that has character, epic and elegance.
