Aries Mond aka Boris Billier, es un artista francés que lanza su tercer álbum con una edición limitada de 100 CD’s, después de su anterior disco “Cut Off” (IIKKI, 2019), un trabajo íntimo con pequeñas y delicadas notas de piano, grabaciones de campo que incluye voces de niños, voz femenina alterada, viento, golpes a botellas de vidrio y arreglos electrónicos.

En este álbum destaca el trabajo electroacústico en el que combina instrumentos acústicos, electrónicos grabaciones y procesamientos. 

La música fragmentada de “Gaps and Shortcuts” está muy bien representada por la magnífica portada de Claire Droppert: Un día soleado en la playa, un montó de arena se desvanece en el aire en pequeños pedazos. Las voces entrecortadas y los suspiros en “Water and Wood”, se sostienen por el palpitante ritmo del corazón. Por cierto es una pieza intensa e inquietante. Luego la parsimonia de una bella nota de piano, unos pasos cercanos y el revoloteo de pájaros, configuran un ambiente melancólico, como si el encanto de esa escena fuera efímero. “Snow and Fire” con sus voces cercanas y lejanas es desconcertante, no se sabe si nos encontramos en un lugar protegido u hostil.

La cuerdas desafinadas en “In the Distance” hace presagiar una atmósfera inquietante, así como en “Gaps” con los aullidos de perros.  

“Shortcuts” cierra este álbum con diminutas notas de piano, líneas de bajo y una pálida melódica. Todo ello en un ambiente de suspenso de tal manera que sea el oyente quien complete la historia con su propia imaginación.

Aries Mond aka Boris Billier, is a French artist who releases his third album in a limited run of 100 CDs, after his previous album "Cut Off" (IIKKI, 2019), an intimate work with small and delicate piano notes, recordings field that includes children's voices, altered female voice, wind, blows to glass bottles and electronic arrangements.

In this album he highlights electroacoustic work in which he combines acoustic and electronic instruments, recordings and processing.

The fragmented music of “Gaps and Shortcuts” is very well represented by the magnificent of Claire Droppert’s photo for the album artcover: On a sunny day at the beach, a pile of sand vanishes into the air in small pieces. The staccato voices and sighs on "Water and Wood" are sustained by the throbbing heart rhythm. It is an intense and disturbing piece. Then the parsimony of a beautiful piano note, a few close steps and the fluttering of birds, configure a melancholic atmosphere, as if the charm of that scene were ephemeral. "Snow and Fire" with its voices near and far is disconcerting, it is not known if we are in a protected or hostile place.

The out of tune strings on "In the Distance" presage an eerie atmosphere, as well as on "Gaps" with dogs howling.

"Shortcuts" closes this album with tiny piano notes, bass lines and a pale melodic. All this in an atmosphere of suspense in such a way that it is the listener who completes the story with her/his own imagination.
