Originalmente “People On Sunday” es una banda sonora de la película muda de 1930 conocida como “Menschen am Sonntag”, “Les Hommes le Dimanche” y “People On Sunday”. Esta película es un ícono del cine alemán.

Domenique Dumont, residente en Riga, Letonia, fue invitado a componer la partitura para una proyección especial, además de tocar en vivo en el Festival de Cine de Les Arcs en los Alpes franceses, en diciembre de 2019.

Dumont premunido de sintes análogos, música de biblioteca y experimentación, crea la banda sonora de “People On Sunday” que capta un aire sesentero, con algunos toques de exotica (“We Almost Got Lost”), música de librería y el despliegue del órgano farfisa. 

Las canciones fluyen en un ambiente elegante, sin pretenciones y un sonido de gotas de agua que acaricia suavemente todo el álbum con sus bellas melodías, envolviendo al oyente en un sonido alucinante que lo conectan con lo etéreo. Pero luego estamos tocando tierra con piezas como “Everyday Life”, con arreglos de oboe y guitarra, tan sigilosos como lúdicos. Aunque lo anterior no quita que nos dejemos de asombrar con temas como “Rituals” con los punteos de guitarra que flotan alrededor.

Este álbum en cada esquina nos invita a emprender un viaje placentero, sin aspavientos, sino que con holgura y parsimonia.

Originally "People On Sunday" is a soundtrack to the 1930 silent film known as "Menschen am Sonntag", "Les Hommes le Dimanche" and "People On Sunday". This film is an icon of German cinema.

Domenique Dumont, based in Riga, Latvia, was invited to compose the score for a special screening, as well as performing live at the Les Arcs Film Festival in the French Alps in December 2019.

Dumont, armed with analog synths, library music and experimentation, creates the soundtrack for "People On Sunday" that captures a sixties air, with some touches of exotic ("V We Almost Got Lost") and the unfolding of the Farfisa organ.

The songs flow in an elegant atmosphere, without pretension and a sound of water drops that gently caress the entire album with their blissful melodies, shrouding the listener in an amazing sound that connects her/him with the ethereal. But then we're hitting the ground with pieces like “Everyday Life”, with an oboe and guitar arrangements, as stealthy as they are playful. Although the above does not mean that we stop being amazed with songs like “Rituals” with the guitar picks that drift around.

This album in every corner invites to undertake a pleasant journey, without fuss, but with ease and parsimony.
