Este es su segundo álbum juntos desde “Maze of Woods” (2015) como Inventions, Matthew Robert Cooper (Eluvium) y Mark T. Smith (Explosions in the Sky), lanzan por la etiqueta de Nueva York Temporary Residence, su nuevo LP “Continuous Portrait” compuesto por nueve canciones.
Inventions son una magnífica simbiosis de electrónica, ambient y avant pop, junto con viñetas de grabaciones de fragmentos de voces.
En esta mezcla podemos encontrar canciones juguetonas como "Calico", junto al romanticismo de “Continuous Portrait” con un diálogo entrecortado y bellas líneas ambientales. El positivismo de “Outlook for the Future” con su carácter bailable y grabaciones de alguna vieja película desde la que se escuchan voces en la que destaca el mensaje “no estoy preocupado por el futuro”. Quizás puede ser un presagio de lo que muchos puedes estar pensando hoy en día. En “Close to People” también se aprecia el tono nostálgico de este disco y su carácter épico desde luego que se releva en el sobrecogedor “Spirit Refinement Exploder”, con su pulso rítmico, voces cándidas y colchones ambientales de las líneas de sintetizador. En “The Warmer the Welcome” se propone una pieza elegante que abre unas notas de piano junto a su marcado ritmo.
“Saw You in a Movie” que cierra el álbum también nos muestra un breve diálogo sacado de un vetusto filme cuya banda sonora - sin darme cuenta - ha sido este bello disco.

This is their second album together since “Maze of Woods” (2015) as Inventions, Matthew Robert Cooper (Eluvium) and Mark T. Smith (Explosions in the Sky) have released on New York based Temporary Residence label, their new LP “Continuous Portrait ” consisting of nine songs.
Inventions are a magnificent symbiosis of electronics, ambient and avant pop, along with vignettes of recordings of snippets of spoken.
In this mix we can find playful songs like "Calico", along with the romanticism of "Continuous Portrait" with a choppy dialogue and gorgeous ambient lines. The positivism of “Outlook for the Future” with its danceable character and recordings of some old movie from which voices are heard highlighting the message “I am not worried about the future”. Perhaps it may be a harbinger of what many may be thinking nowadays. On “Close to People” you can also appreciate the nostalgic tone of this album and its epic character, of course, which is highlighted in the overwhelming “Spirit Refinement Exploder”, with its rhythmic pulse, candid voices and ambient mattresses of the synthesizer lines. On “The Warmer the Welcome” an elegant piece is proposed that opens up some piano notes along with its marked rhythm.
"Saw You in a Movie" that closes the album also shows us a short dialogue taken from an old film whose soundtrack - without realizing it - has been this beautiful album.
