Como todo final de año, Eilean Records edita un compilado con artistas del sello y en esta oportunidad son 109 músicos, 81 tracks, seis horas de música en un CD quíntuble que incluye 60 tracks inéditos y ya publicados y 21 tracks de catálogos anteriores.
Este es un compilado que reúne estilos como ambient, neo clásica, folk, dub y mixturas de estas corrientes musicales.
Aquí hay varios destacados como “Land” de Ian Nyquist junto a Jack Sheehan. La voz gutural se eleva a lo más alto en un marco ensoñador que le da una sotenida línea de teclados como fondo. Las formas clásicas muy presentes en este compilado, se expresa con “After Image” de Seabuckthorn. El dub de Spheruleus con “Ploein” acaricia como la briza del verano que estamos disfrutando en el hemisferio sur. Ben McElroy con su “Ocean Left Unspoken” es simplemente bello con su melodía envolvente que despliega el violín. The Prairie Lines con “Echo Collapse” propone un interesante tratamiento al piano con retorcidas notas reconvertidas. “Nu Falmer Skoven” de øjeRum muestra una música expansiva con ribetes de distorsión mostrando un carácter inquietante. “An Island” de Monolyth & Cobalt evoca paisajes sonoros con retazos de grabaciones de campo junto a efectos deslizantes de guitarra y efectos. Los artistas sonoros italianos Francesco Giannico y Giulio Aldinucci con “Reframing” crean una atmósfera nostálgica que se acompaña de voces de niños.
“Une Dernière Lueur” de Ieva son destellos y timbres que pululan alrededor de voces, ruidos de objetos, corrientes de agua, donde todo trancurre lento y pausadamente y que continua con las campanillas tintineantes en “Borrow” de Dramavinile. En la zona ambient Jonathan Kawchuk con “Dip Listening” se mueve silenciosamente sobre las nubes como lo hace “Meek Bees” de Ruhe con sus espesas atmósferas. Lynn Fister con su voz angelical y el ruido del craqueo le da un carácter nostálgico a “Ode To M” de Benjamin Finger. “Soft Arp” de Daniel K. Böhm con sus pulsaciones electrónicas imprime un ritmo cautivante al CD 2. Un ícono del ambient es Ian Hawgood que con “Another New Shore” invita a un viaje lejos de estos parajes, así como lo hace con preciosos timbres el barcelonés Ciro Berenguer con “Luna Creciente”.
Los golpes aleatorios a objetos y la electrónica en “V-Modal” compuesto por Zahn, Hatami & McClure muestra una faceta electróacústica interesante. Sonidos microscópicos son los que entrega Inga-Lill Farstad on “Alagabata” permitiendo crear un espacio íntimo. Música expansiva y con una textura granular es lo que nos provee Andrew Tasselmyer con “Recall”, música que evoca a pasajes de Rapoon. Amuleto experimenta con su guitarra ofreciendo dosis de distorsión en “Yokozuna” y así también Sublamp en “Fever/Throat”. Quizá marcando una diferencia en este compilado, son los ritmos dub punzantes que proponen Banabila & Machinefabriek con “Sasquatch” que también se pueden escuchar en “Going Down Fighting” de BMRN. El grabador de campo Miguel Isaza nos trae en “El Monte Suspendido” sonidos del ambiente, extraídos posiblemente de un bosque, con el canto de pájaros y el golpeteo suave a algunos objetos.
En el último CD, el quinto, Wil Bolton con “Overlap” nos trae un ambient plácido donde los ecos de las notas del teclado, expanden las posibilidades de imaginar bellos paisajes. Los acordes de guitarra de Yadayn en “Toen” transportan a un lugar bucólico y silencioso.
Este compilado nos ofrece una buena oportunidad para escuchar a artistas que trabajan en la frontera de la vanguardia.

Like every end of the year Eilean Records release a compilation with artists of the label and this time the roster includes 109 musicians, 81 tracks, six hours of music on a Quad CD containing 60 unpublished and previously released tracks and 21 tracks from back catalogs.
This is a compilation that brings together genres as ambient, neo classical, folk, dub and a blend of these musical currents.
There are several notables here such as Ian Nyquist's "Land" with Jack Sheehan. The guttural voice rises to the sky in a dreamlike setting that keyboards hold as a backdrop. The classic forms in this compilation is expressed on "After Image" by Seabuckthorn. Spheruleus’s "Ploein" dub tune caresses like the summer breeze we are enjoying in the Southern hemisphere. Ben McElroy with his "Ocean Left Unspoken" is simply beautiful with it immerse melody that displays the violin. The Prairie Lines’s “Echo Collapse” proposes an interesting piano treatment that reconvert it on twisted notes. “Nu Falmer Skoven” by øjeRum shows an expansive music with edges of some distortion which gives a disturbing character. “An Island” by Monolyth & Cobalt conjure soundscapes with field recordings scraps along with sliding guitar effects. Italian sound artists Francesco Giannico and Giulio Aldinucci with "Reframing" create a nostalgic atmosphere that is accompanied by children's voices. “Une Dernière Lueur” by Ieva are flashes and bells that swarm around voices, noise of objects, streams of water, where everything runs slowly and slowly that continues with the bells tinkling in “Borrow” of Dramavinile. In the ambient zone Jonathan Kawchuk’s “Dip Listening” moves quietly over the clouds as on “Meek Bees” by Ruhe with its fogy atmosphere. Lynn Fister with her angelic voice and the crackling noise give a nostalgic mood on “Ode To M” by Benjamin Finger. Daniel K. Böhm’s “Soft Arp” with its electronic keystrokes prints a captivating rhythm to CD 2. An icon of the ambient genre is Ian Hawgood who with “Another New Shore” invites us to a trip away from these places, just as Ciro Berenguer from Barcelona does with beautiful bells on "Luna Creciente".
Random hits over objects and electronics on "V-Modal" composed by Zahn, Hatami & McClure shows an interesting electro-acoustic side. Inga-Lill Farstad delivers microscopics sounds on “Alagabata” allowing an intimate space. Expansive music with a granular texture is what Andrew Tasselmyer provides us with "Recall", music that evokes me from Rapoon passages. Amuleto experiments with his guitar and offers us a dose of distortion on “Yokozuna” and so does Sublamp’s “Fever / Throat”. Perhaps making a difference in this compilation are the pungent dub rhythms proposed by Banabila & Machinefabriek with "Sasquatch" that also BMRN produce on "Going Down Fighting." The field recordist Miguel Isaza brings on “El Monte Suspendido” sounds of the environment, possibly extracted from a forest, with bird songs and soft tapping to some objects.
In the last CD, the fifth, Wil Bolton with "Overlap" brings us a placid ambient where the echoes of the keyboard notes expand the possibilities to imagine beautiful landscapes. Yadayn's guitar chords on "Toen" transport us to a bucolic and silent place.
This compilation offers a good opportunity to listen to artists working on the border of the avant-garde.
