Ekin Fil aka Ekin Üzeltüzenci es una artista de música electronica de İstanbul que explora el ambient junto con el folk lo-fi y la electrónica. Tiene cinco discos editados, los últimos cuatro publicados en el sello de California The Helen Scarsdale. Al escuchar la música es necesario adentrarse en ella porque los sutiles arreglos de piano, órgano, grabaciones de campo, guitarra y voces crean ambientes encantados e hipnóticos. Llega entonces el momento de sumergirnos en las melancólicas melodías y respirar hondo y dejarse llevar por la música. La sensación de espacio que generan las reverberaciones dan la sensación de adentrarse en atmósferas penetrantes y bellas. When listening to Ekin Fil’s music it is necessary to go into it because the subtle arrangements of piano, organ, field recordings, guitar and voices create enchanted and hypnotic atmospheres. Then it is time to immerse ourselves in the melancholy melodies and take a deep breath and let yourself be carried away by the music. Cuéntanos cuál fue tu fuente de inspiración cuando compusiste “Maps". “‘Maps’ es el resultado del primer invierno que pasé lejos de la casa en la que había vivido durante más de diez años. Básicamente (‘Maps’) se trata de estar lejos, sola y musicalmente se inspiró en el silencio. Puedo decir que aproximadamente esta es la combinación de estas fuentes”. "Away" es especialmente desgarrador, melancólico y muy hermoso. ¿Qué papel juega el ruido en esta sosegada pieza, donde todo pasa muy lentamente? “A veces la música se hace principalmente desde los sentimientos y no a través de los pensamientos. Esa canción puede ser un ejemplo de eso. Creo que la tensión en la canción de alguna manera está en la armonía y su naturaleza”. ¿Integras tu música con otras formas de arte? “Me encanta tocar en vivo con ciertos videos. Previamente trabajamos en éstos. Está bien pensar en estos videos no sólo como material visual, sino como parte de la música o parte del ambiente de ese momento". Últimamente he conocido la música de R.A.N. (Hüma Utku), Ipek Gorgun y la tuya. ¿Cómo es la escena underground de las mujeres artistas turcas? “Creo que las personas que realmente piensan en lo que hacen, se lo toman en serio y trabajan en ello con amor podrían ser más productivas. Las mujeres que hacen música en la escena musical underground de Turquía también deben ser así". Por favor cuéntanos sobre tus futuros proyectos. “Actualmente estoy trabajando en una pieza para ediciones de un largo formato. Y tengo una presentación en Estambul el 7 de octubre, todos son bienvenidos". Guillermo Escudero Octubre 2018				Please tell us what your source of inspiration for composing "Maps". “Maps is the result of the first winter I spent away from the home I had been living for over a decade. It’s basically about being away and alone and musically it was inspired from silence. I can say it’s a combination of these sources roughly.” "Away" is especially heartbreaking and melancholy and very beautiful indeed. What role does noise fulfill in this peaceful piece, where everything happens quite slowly? “Sometimes music is made mostly through feelings and not through thoughts. That song may be an example for that. I think the tension in the song is somewhat in harmony with its nature.” Do you combine your music with other art forms? “I love playing live over certain videos. We work on those videos beforehand. Its ok for me to think about those videos not only as visual material but a part of music or a part of the atmosphere of that moment.” Lately I have known the music of R.A.N. (Hüma Utku), Ipek Gorgun and yours. How is the underground scene of Turkish women artists? “People who really think over what they make, take it seriously and work on it with love could somewhat be more productive I think. Women who make music in Turkey’s underground music scene must be like that as well.” Please tell us about your future projects. “Currently I am working on a piece for long form editions.
