Este es el tercer disco de este dúo de Nueva York que se torna hacia el África y el mundo árabe, así también con acercamiento al blues. Algunas composiciones de este álbum fueron realizados en los primeros tiempos de la banda y otras son más recientes. Si bien 75 Dollar Bill está constituido por el núcleo central de Rick Brown en caja de madera contrachapada, percusión de manos y pies, cuernos crudos y por Che Chen en guitarras de 6 y 12 cuerdas, cuartos de tono y percusión, siempre está acompañado de varios músicos que itineran según la ocasión. Las piezas en general son largas que generan una especie de trance junto a drones y una rítmica constante. Los acordes de la guitarra se repiten y van creando espirales hipnóticos con los que crean sesiones de improvisación en la que las armonías se despliegan en forma interminable. La canción “I Was Real” que da título al disco, es un ejemplo de ello. La guitarra de Chen tiene la influencia de la cultura nómade Tuareq del norte de África, que por momentos parece que estuviera desafinada por sus filudas notas. Pero también en tanto intervienen la viola o el saxofón se dejan ver las influencias del blues y el folk. Some compositions of this album were made in the early days of the band and others are more recent. While 75 Dollar Bill is made up of Rick Brown on plywood crate, hand and foot percussion, crude horns and Che Chen, 6 and 12-string and quarter-tone guitars, percussion are always accompanied by several musicians who are itinerant according to the occasion. The pieces are long and display a kind of trance with drones and a constant rhythm. The guitar chords are repeated and create hypnotic spirals with which they create improvisation sessions in which the harmonies unfold endlessly. The song "I Was Real" that gives title to the album, is a good example of this. Chen's guitar has the influence of the nomadic Tuareq culture of North Africa, which at times seems to be out of tune because of its sharp notes. But as long as the viola or saxophone intervene, the influences of blues and folk can be seen.
