Este cuarteto que se conoció y se formó en El Cairo por los egipcios Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy y los alemanes Till Funke y Jonas Yamer. “The Act of Falling from the 8th Floor” es el segundo disco después de su debut en el sello The Trilogy Tapes en 2016. Abdullah Miniawy es quien – en esta historia – realiza un viaje suicida desde un octavo piso y durante esta fatídica caída observa distintas escenas de la sociedad egipcia que se encuentra eclipsada y encapsulada en un régimen autoritario, donde levantar la voz en contra del régimen y la religión son fuertemente reprimidas, razón por la que Abdullah Miniawy debió emigrar y establecerse en París. “The Act of Falling from the 8th Floor” despliega una música electrónica oscura, con punzantes bajos, cajas de ritmo envolventes, junto al lánguido canto de Miniawy. Abdullah Miniawy is the one who - in this story - makes a suicidal journey from an 8th floor and during this fateful fall he observes different scenes that shape the Egyptian society which is eclipsed and encapsulated in an authoritarian regime, where to raise the voice against the regime and religion is strongly repressed, this is why Abdullah Miniawy had to emigrate and based in Paris. “The Act of Falling from the 8th Floor” displays a dark electronic music, with bass stabbing, inmersive rhythm drum machine, along with Miniawy’s mournful song.
