Iu Takahashi es vocalista, compositora y artista sonora oriunda de Kanagawa, Japón y que hoy vive en Yokohama. Produce sus obras utilizando su propia voz, grabaciones de campo y electrónica desde 2018.

Iu se inspira en el ambient japonés y en los sonidos minimalistas, plasmando en su música sutiles notas, brechas y silencios, para conectar y capturar los sonidos del ambiente, como pueden ser los cantos de pájaros, o el ruido de motores de automóviles y combinarlos con sus propios sonidos.

“Sense Margin” es su sexto lanzamiento que contiene siete canciones del género ambient, cuya apertura es “Awake / Lakeside” con el sonido de pájaros y el suave correr del agua, junto a pads de sintetizador ondulantes. En “Response / Water” emerge tímidamente algunas breves vocalizaciones de Iu, mientras una línea ambiental sintética se expande y se recoge. “Stable / In Praise Of Shadows” plasma el tañido de algún metal que vibra en forma tenue, quedando suspendido en el aire. Takahashi tiene un especial interés por capturar el ambiente de la naturaleza, como el canto de los pájaros que nuevamente se recogen en “Listen / Season” que predispone al oyente a detenerse y escuchar. Como sugiere el título “Blink / Landscape”, muestra cómo la nube de sintetizador devela un bello paisaje de colores apastelados, mientras en “Asleep / Sea” flotan el coro celestial de Iu y las almohadas melódicas junto al sonido suave del agua que purifica el ambiente. “Open / Rain” captura el sonido de la persistente lluvia acompañada por instrumentos de cuerda que cierra un disco emotivo.

Iu Takahashi is a vocalist, composer, and sound artist born in Kanagawa, Japan, and now based in Yokohama. She has been composing and producing music using her voice, field recordings and electronics since 2018.

Iu is inspired by Japanese ambient and minimalist sounds, capturing subtle notes, gaps and silences in her music, to connect and capture the sounds of the environment such as chirp songs, or the noise of car engines and combine them with her own sounds.

“Sense Margin” is their sixth release that consists in seven songs in the ambient genre, the opening of which is “Awake / Lakeside” with the sound of birds and the gentle water running, along side undulating synth pads. In “Response / Water” some brief vocalizations from Iu timidly emerge, while a synthetic ambient line expands and collects. Stable / In Praise Of Shadows” captures the ringing of some metal that vibrates faintly remaining suspended in the air. Takahashi has a special interest in capturing the atmosphere of nature, such as the birdsong that is again captured in “Listen / Season” that predisposes the listener to stop and listen. As the title “Blink / Landscape” suggests, it shows how the synth cloud reveals a beautiful landscape of pastel colors, while in “Asleep / Sea” Iu's celestial choir and melodic pillows hover alongside the soft water sound that purifies the atmosphere. “Open / Rain” captures the sound of persistent rain accompanied by string instruments that closes an emotional album.
