Esta compilación es un álbum conmemorativo del fallecido y gran músico japonés Ryuichi Sakamoto (28 de marzo, 2023, Tokio) compuesto por músicos y colaboradores cercanos a él desde el año 2000 hasta sus últimos años.
En respuesta al sonido prolijo y minimalista de Ryuichi Sakamoto, 41 músicos de Japón y del extranjero han creado este álbum que incluye 39 canciones inéditas. Este disco fue creado por 12K, sello neoyorquino que publicó la música de Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Abre este compilatorio Tetuzi Akiyama con “Transparent Encephalon”, una canción que hilvana breves acordes nostálgicos. Le sigue Otomo Yoshihide con el tema “Moonless Night” con articulaciones electroacústicas lideradas por los punteos de una guitarra acústica. "to the sunny man” de Sachiko M incorpora micro texturas electrónicas que roza con el silencio, mientras que Toshimaru Nakamura nimb#75” agrega con su técnica sin input a la mesa de mezclas, ruidos microscópicos y drones. “Hearing Cries From the Lake” de David Toop evoca el sonido de los bosques de Japón, con el canto de los pájaros y los lugares sagrados. Con sonidos de corrientes de agua se inicia con “It Is Night, Outside” de Lawrence English y luego una línea sintetizada ambiental desliza una nota melódica sobrecogedora. Las grabaciones de campo especialmente de los ambientes naturales están presentes en varias las canciones como en “Rainforest soloist” de Takashi Kokubo. En “Hotaru” de Miki Yui se aprecian bellos tonos undulantes, como si fuera el sonido del agua manipulado. Alva Noto muestra grabaciones del ambiente (agua, pájaros) que son el telón de fondo de pulcras notas de piano y el sonido de un conjunto de cuerdas. En “UKIYO” de Aoki Takamasa los cantos de pájaros y grillos se ven envueltos por las trepidantes notas sintetizadas, en tanto que Stephen Vitiello con su track “Motionless Wings” crea un espacio intrigante dándole una forma orgánica. Sawako con su tema “Tokyo Rain Forest 35°40’25”N 139°45’21”E 03:44” releva la plena vida que existe en el bosque de Tokio. El dúo ILLUHA expresa su gratitud a Sakamoto con el título de la canción (“Gratitude”), con la que construye varias capas que incluyen la mnaipulación a objetos, grabaciones de grillos y pájaros y notas ambientales, creando un espacio ensoñador que continúa con “backward to blue” de Tomotsugu Nakamura, junto a sus finas y breves notas de piano. Los grillos de la noche y el fluir de la lluvia es lo que acompaña las diminutas notas sintetizadas de los dispositivos de Federico Durand y su canción “Alguien escribió su nombre en el vidrio empañado”, un título poético e intrigante al mismo tiempo. Taylor Deupree muestra con “A Small Morning Garden” un sonido íntimo en el que convergen el piano, el ruido de la manipulación de objetos y un ruido que subyace en el fondo. Ian Hawgood y su canción “Morning / Evening Context” crea un ambiente plácido y envolvente con bellas notas que titilan con sus pequeños brillos.
Este compilatorio además de mostrar un excelente trabajo curatorial, hará perdurar la música de Ryuichi Sakamoto por mucho tiempo.

This compilation is a commemorative album of the late, great Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto (March 28, 2023, Tokyo) composed of musicians and collaborators close to him from the year 2000 until his last years.
In response to Ryuichi Sakamoto's pure, minimalist sound, 41 musicians from Japan and abroad have created this album that includes 39 previously unreleased songs. This album was created by 12K, the New York label that published Ryuichi Sakamoto's music.
Tetuzi Akiyama opens this compilation with “Transparent Encephalon”, a song that strings together short nostalgic chords. It is followed by Otomo Yoshihide’s song “Moonless Night” with electroacoustic articulations led by the plucking of an acoustic guitar. “To the sunny man” by Sachiko M incorporates electronic micro textures that border on silence, while Toshimaru Nakamura nimb#75” adds microscopic noises and drones with his technique No-input mixing board. “Hearing Cries From the Lake” by David Toop evokes the sound of Japan’s forests alongside the song of birds and sacred places. With sounds of flowing water it begins with “It Is Night, Outside” by Lawrence English and an ambient synthesized line slides an overwhelming melodic note. Field recordings, especially of natural environments, are present in several songs such as in “Rainforest soloist” by Takashi Kokubo. In “Hotaru” by Miki Yui, beautiful undulating tones can be listen, as if it were the sound of water manipulated. Alva Noto shows recordings of the environment (water, birds) that are the backdrop for neat piano notes and the sound of a string ensemble. In “UKIYO” by AOKI Takamasa the songs of birds and crickets are enveloped by the fast-paced synthesized notes, while Stephen Vitiello with his track “Motionless Wings” creates an intriguing space giving it an organic shape. Sawako with her song “Tokyo Rain Forest 35 ° 40'25” N 139 ° 45'21 ”E 03:44” highlights the full life that exists in the Tokyo forest. The ILLUHA duo expresses their gratitude to Sakamoto with the title song “Gratitude”, with which they build several layers that include manipulation of objects, recordings of crickets and birds and ambient notes, creating a dreamy space that continues with “backward to blue” by Tomotsugu Nakamura, along with its fine and brief piano notes. The crickets of the night and the flow of the rain is what accompanies the tiny, synthesized notes of Federico Durand, and his song “Somebody wrote his name on the fogged glass”, is a poetic and intriguing title at the same time. With “A Small Morning Garden”, Taylor Deupree shows an intimate sound in which the piano, the sound of object manipulation and a dusty noise that lies in the background converge. Ian Hawgood and his song “Morning / Evening Context” creates a placid and enveloping atmosphere with beautiful notes that flicker with their small sparkles.
This compilation, in addition to showing an excellent curatorial work, will make Ryuichi Sakamoto's music last for a long time.
