Como cada lanzamiento en el sello francés IIKKI, comprende la música de un artista, en esta ocasión, del japonés Akira Uchida y las fotografías del artista nipón Masao Yamamoto. Ambas ediciones son complementarias y al mismo tiempo pueden escucharse y visualizarse independientemente.

Masao Yamamoto tiene una trayectoria de más de 30 años trabajando y exhibiendo sus fotografías en galería y museos de Japón, Europa, Estados Unidos y en Sudamérica (São Paulo). 

Akira Uchida trabajo varios años como saxofonista y luego en 2007 aprendió afinación de piano con Satoshi Yoshida. En 2015, mientras aprendía de Masahiro Adachi, Uchida comenzó a crear un clavicordio (instrumento de teclado inventado en el siglo XIV), quien en la nota de prensa comenta: "Hacer instrumentos, afinar sonidos, ser músico, este flujo es esencial para mí para ver el mundo". En este disco toca el saxo, piano, clavicordio y afinación de piano.

“Kurayami” (oscuridad) consta de dos largos temas de 20 minutos cada uno. Su apertura con “Kurayami #1” Uchida hace un juego de vocales como si estuviera recitando una plegaria, mientras del clavicordio se escuchan sus acordes con un acento oriental y que acompaña sigilosamente las frases de piano que asoman, mientras emerge el “canto” nocturno de un grillo y serpentea el timbre penetrante y dulce del saxo, terminando esta pista con las invocaciones de Uchida. “Kurayami #2” continua en este sendero espiritual con el canto gutural e hipnótico de Uchida, junto a las inflexiones del clavicordio que se expande y se contrae. En este espacio de ambient, las agudas notas del saxo no hacen más que embellecer las melodías y crear una atmósfera idónea para reflexionar o meditar.

Like every release on the French label IIKKI, it includes the music of an artist, this time, Japanese Akira Uchida and the photographs of the Japanese artist Masao Yamamoto. Both editions are complementary and at the same time can be heard and viewed independently.

Masao Yamamoto has a trayectory of over 30 years working and exhibiting his photographs in galleries and museums in Japan, Europe, the United States and South America (São Paulo).

Akira Uchida worked for several years as a saxophonist and then in 2007 he learned piano tuning with Satoshi Yoshida. In 2015, while learning from Masahiro Adachi, Uchida began to self-build a clavichord (keyboard instrument invented in the 14th century), who comments in the press release: “Making instruments, tuning sounds, being a musician, this flow is essential for me to see the world.” On this record he plays sax, piano, clavichord and piano tuning.

“Kurayami” (darkness) consists of two longform tracks of 20 minutes each. In the opener “Kurayami #1” Uchida makes a game of vocals as if he were reciting a prayer, while the clavichord notes are heard with an oriental accent that silently accompanies the piano phrases that appear, while the nocturnal “song” of a cricket emerges, and the penetrating and sweet timbre of the sax meanders, ending this track with Uchida’s invocations. “Kurayami #2” continues the spiritual path with Uchida's throaty, hypnotic singing, along with the inflections of the harpsichord, expanding and contracting. In this ambient space, the sax sharp notes do nothing more than embellish the melodies and create an ideal atmosphere to reflect or meditate.
