Esta es una nueva entrega de David Lee Myers, artista sonoro y visual, músico experimental que trabaja también con el seudónimo de Arcane Device. 

En sus composiciones utiliza electrónica modular, matrices de feedback, texturas de guitarra, diversidad de tonos y variantes polirítmicas. 

“Matrix” es un álbum de música de feedback que desarrolla Myers y que se relaciona con la exploración de las posibilidades sónicas de un mezclador de matriz digital de 16 por 16, enrutando una multitud de procesadores de audio entre sí, esencialmente es un mezclador para las salidas de la consola.

En relación al feedback, la experimentalista francesa Eliane Radigue señala que el feedback es intrínsecamente inestable. Para generar los sonidos sostenidos, suavemente vibrantes y ondulantes que estaba buscando, tuvo que encontrar la distancia adecuada y mover su micrófono con el gesto correcto. ('The Wire', febrero de 2022). En tanto, la artista sonora Cathy van Eck comenta sobre el feedback. "Quedé fascinada por la fisicalidad del sonido del feedback. Parecía estar en todas partes en el espacio pero provenir de la nada. Y con el feedback, no hay un punto de partida perceptible: el sonido oscila entre el micrófono y el altavoz en un loop sin fin. Mover tu cuerpo frente a un parlante, reemplazar un micrófono o cambiar el volumen de la configuración, modifica inmediatamente el sonido". ('The Wire', febrero de 2017).

Myers y su enfoque científico y el uso de una matriz digital muestra una eclosión de sonidos con una gran variedad de timbres y resonancias. Algunas tonalidades por cierto, pulsaciones rítmicas también y ruidos orgánicos, silbidos, sonidos agudos, intermitentes y por sobre todo aleatorios e inesperados.

This is a new installment of sound and visual artist and experimental musician David Lee Myers, who also works under the alias of Arcane Device.

In his compositions he uses modular electronics, feedback matrices, guitar textures, a wide range of tones and polyrhythmic variants.

“Matrix” is an album of feedback music developed by Myers that relates to exploring the sonic possibilities of a 16 by 16 digital matrix mixer, routing a multitude of audio processors to one another, essentially a mixer for console outputs.

Regarding feedback, French experimentalist Eliane Radigue says that “feedback is inherently unstable. In order to generate the sustained, gently vibrating and undulating sounds she was seeking, she had to find just the right distance and move her microphone with just the right gesture.” ('The Wire', February 2022). Sound artist Cathy van Eck argues about feedback. “I became fascinated by the physicality of the feedback sound. It seemed to be everywhere in space but coming from nowhere. And with feedback, there is no perceptible starting point: the sound is oscillating between microphone and loudspeaker in an endless loop. Moving your body in front of a loudspeaker, replacing a microphone, or changing the volume of the set-up, immediately modifies the sound.” ('The Wire', February 2017).

Myers and his scientific approach and the use of a digital matrix showcase an explosion of sounds with a wide variety of timbres and resonances and tones sprawling throughout the disc, rhythmic pulsations as well and organic noises, whistles, high-pitched, intermittent and above all random and unexpected sounds.
