Scatterwound está compuesto por Dirk Serries de Bélgica y el alemán Hellmut Neidhardt aka N. El compositor y músico Dirk Serries es conocido por su proyecto ambiental bajo el alias de Vidna Obmana que comenzó a principios de los ’80. En 2005 Vidma Obmana quedó en pausa y comenzó a trabajar como Fear Falls Burning con el que publicó 12 álbumes, finalizando éste en 2012. Sacó otro proyecto orientado a la guitarra llamado Microphonics project. En los últimos años ha estado orientado a la música de jazz, con proyectos de free-jazz, free-improvisación y en la creación de su sello A New Wave Of Jazz. N ha estado activo de 2003 publicando a la fecha más de 50 discos, entre álbumes, EP’s y singles.

Este disco consiste en tres tracks que corresponden a presentaciones en vivo. El primero de ellos fue en 2017 en una iglesia en Duisburg en el Festival Platzhirschc en Alemania. Scatterwound despliega un set expansivo de drones de guitarra que se acercan al borde de la distorsión. La segunda presentación del dúo fue en el Roadburn Festival en 2018 en los Países Bajos. Originalmente estaba pensado que tocaran en un trío junto a Justin K Broadrick, quien no pudo participar por un retraso en su viaje. La música se siente menos abrasiva prevaleciendo las atmósferas ambientales. El tercer set se llevó a cabo en 2019 en el Moving Noises Festival en Alemania, En esta oportunidad tocaron como un trío junto a Martina Verhoeven en piano preparado. Las guitarras se escuchan como marco de fondo que parecen nubes de sonido con ribetes melódicos edificantes, junto a sutiles esquirlas de distorsión. In recent years he has been oriented towards jazz music, with free-jazz, free-improvisation projects, and the creation of the label A New Wave Of Jazz. N has been active since 2003, releasing over 50 albums, EP’s and singles to date.

This album consists of three tracks that correspond to live performances. The first one of these was in 2017 in a church in Duisburg at the Platzhirschc Festival in Germany. Scatterwound unfurls an expansive set of guitar drones that straddle the edge of distortion. The duo's second performance was at the Roadburn Festival in 2018 in the Netherlands. Originally it was thought that they would play as a trio with Justin K Broadrick, who could not participate due to a delay in his trip. The music feels less abrasive as ambient atmospheres prevail. The third set took place in 2019 at the Moving Noises Festival in Germany. This time they played as a trio alongside Martina Verhoeven on prepared piano. The guitars are heard as a background frame that resemble clouds of sound with uplifting melodic edges, along with subtle splinters of distortion, while Verhoeven scrapes the strings.

Scatterwound propose a deep and penetrating music, as dreamy as it is suffocating and captivating at the same time.
