Gravitsapa es un dúo ucranio que vive Lviv (al oeste de Ucrania, a unos 70 kilómetros de la frontera con Polonia) y que se formó en 2007 por Jabo Kritsky en guitarra, ruidos y voces, y Hulurlaid Dral, quien toca el bajo, teclados, batería y ruidos. Gravitsapa (en el modismo ucraniano significa “cosa extraña”) es un dúo experimental enraizado en el rock vanguardista, el noise y guiños al post metal.

En la nota de prensa del disco se señala que “este álbum fue creado durante la guerra. Este álbum es sobre la guerra.” La fecha “23.02.2023 se refiere a que es “un año y un día después de que putin haya llevado la Guerra a una nueva fase”. Respecto del título del álbum “Concert Nª1 "23/23" (For chamber duo with looper (pedal) and Polivox (amplificador vintage)” quiere preparar al oyente para una escucha difícil sobre una música de fondo y minimalista. “La idea principal de este disco es la evolución de la conciencia durante la guerra”.

El álbum arranca con “Hemostasis”, una madeja de tonos y efectos vacilantes de la guitarra, ruidos electrizantes, voz cavernosa y atmósfera oscura. “Oculi Mortis” despliega unos controlados riffs de guitarra a lo Sunn O))), para continuar con suaves golpes al bajo que fluyen y siguen vibrando en el espacio. Un cruce entre Lee Ranaldo y Wolf Eyes. En “Vox Evolutionis” los efectos de la guitarra toman formas sinuosas y caen agonizantes en un precipicio sombrío, mientras la voz cavernosa de Jabo Kritsky emerge desde lo profundo y sobrevive soterradamente. Es aquí donde cobra fuerza la idea de un “álbum sobre la guerra”. “Plebs Electa” que cierra el disco, continua con las frotaciones rápidas al bajo, golpes de batería aleatorios, distorsión de guitarra y descargas de ruido. 

Gravitsapa encara con valentía su propuesta musical en un contexto adverso, en medio de una guerra, no obstante está en ellos su firme convicción de que hacen lo correcto, en el momento en que viven.

Gravitsapa is a Ukrainian duo that lives in Lviv (west of Ukraine, around 70 kilometers from the border with Poland) formed in 2007 by Jabo Kritsky on guitar, noises and vocals, and Hulurlaid Dral who plays bass, keyboards, drums and noises. Gravitsapa (in the Ukrainian language, has the slang meaning "strange thing"), is an experimental duo rooted in avant-garde rock, noise with nods to post metal. 

In the press release of the album, it is stated that “was created during the War. This album is about the War.” The date “23.02.2023” is “one year and one day after putin has shifted the War into a new phase.” In relation to the title of the album “Concert Nª1 "23/23" (For chamber duo with looper (pedal) and Polivox (vintage amplifier),” “prepares the listener for responsible listening of difficult to understand and at the same time background and minimalistic music. The main idea of this record is the evolution of consciousness during the war.”

The album opens with “Hemostasis,” a skein of wavering guitar tones and effects, electrifying noises, cavernous vocals, and dark atmosphere. “Oculi Mortis” displays some controlled guitar riffs in the Sunn O))) style, to continue with soft bass hits that flows and keep vibrating into the space. A cross between Lee Ranaldo and Wolf Eyes. In “Vox Evolutionis” the guitar effects take sinuous shapes and fall in agony into a gloomy precipice, while the Jabo Kritsky’s cavernous voice emerge from the depths and survives in the underground. This is where the idea of an "album about war" gains strength. "Plebs Electa" that closes the album, continues with the fast bass rubbing, random drum hits, guitar distortion and noise discharges.

Gravitsapa bravely faces his musical proposal in an adverse context, in the middle of a war, despite their firm conviction that they are doing the right thing, at the time they are live in.
