El escultor, artista visual, músico y constructor de instrumentos musicales israelí Uri Katzenstein, estaba preparando una importante exposición en Ámsterdam en 2018, cuando falleció repentinamente a la edad de 67 años. La exposición se tituló “The Institute of Ongoing Things” y fue inaugurada por sus amigos y colaboradores, el artista interdisciplinario Ohad Fishof, el diseñador de bandas sonoras y músico Binya Reches y el compositor de cine Ishai Adar. The Institute of Ongoing Things (también conocida como TIOOT y que comprende a los tres artistas ya mencionados) se incluye en la segunda cara del LP, para la que se escogieron las grabaciones y letras de Katzenstein y algunos de los instrumentos construidos por él. La música fue compuesta especialmente para este show.

La música de la primera cara del vinilo se grabó en 2011 pero solo fue editada y mezclada por los miembros restantes de Yom Gagatzi, Binya Reches y Ohad Fishof (Uri Katzenstein era un miembro original).

El lado 1 comienza con “Erhan Bashak” de Yom Gagatzi muestra los contornos deslizantes de la guitarra eléctrica y sombríos coro de voces. “In Our Culture” es una composición electroacústica con rachas de ruido punzantes que luego se convierten en desarrollo electrizantes. En “Benda Veizi” los ruidos entrecortados dan paso a una balbuceante flauta autóctona, además de voces retorcidas que hacen de ello una mezcla apabullante. “Strea Medina” despliega una percusión desordenada, junto a voces manipuladas que se convierte luego en una suerte de canto de danza tradicional. “Tzhin Vali” desarrolla ruidos agudos chirriantes que a poco andar se desvanece y surge el silencio. “Words” que termina el disco, ofrece una lectura poética que es acompañada por una bella flauta tradicional. 

El lado 2 que consiste en cuatro composiciones de The Institute of Ongoing Things que se basa en spoken–word, cantos melancólicos que tratan de la vida de Uri Katzenstein, junto a texturas de ruidos de objetos golpeados y líneas retorcidas de sintetizador.

Yom Gagatzi / TIOOT abre la puerta para seguir descubriendo música israelí, cuya combinación de instrumentos de viento tradicionales y electrónica de avanzada, aporta matices y colores irresistibles de la cultura del Medio Oriente.

The Israeli sculptor, visual artist, musician and musical instrument builder, Uri Katzenstein, was preparing an important exhibition in Amsterdam in 2018, when he suddenly passed away at the age of 67. The exhibition was titled “The Institute of Ongoing Things” and was opened by his friends and collaborators Ohad Fishof, interdisciplinary artist, soundtrack designer and musician Binya Reches, and film composer Ishai Adar. This performance is included on the second side of the LP so-called “The Institute of Ongoing Things” (also known as TIOOT that it’s comprised by the three aforementioned artists), who chose Katzenstein's recordings and lyrics and some of his instruments built by the late Israeli artist. The music was composed specially for this show.

The music of the first side of the vinyl was recorded in 2011 but it was only edited and mixed by the remain members of Yom Gagatzi, Binya Reches and Ohad Fishof (Uri Katzenstein was an original member).

Side 1 opens with Yom Gagatzi's “Erhan Bashak” showcasing the sliding contours of electric guitar and somber chorus of vocals. “In Our Culture” is an electroacoustic composition with stinging streaks of noise that later turn into electrifying developments. On “Benda Veizi” the broken noises give way to a babbling native flute, as well as twisted voices that make it an overwhelming mix. “Strea Medina” displays off kilter percussion, along with manipulated voices that later becomes a kind of traditional dance song. “Tzhin Vali” develops high-pitched screeching noises that fade away after a little while and silence ensues. Rounding off the album with "Words", offers a spoken-word that is accompanied by a beautiful traditional flute.

Side 2 consisting of four compositions from The Institute of Ongoing Things is based on spoken–word, melancholy chants dealing with the life of Uri Katzenstein, along with slammed object noise textures and twisted synth lines.

Yom Gagatzi / TIOOT opens the door to further discovering Israeli music, whose combination of traditional wind instruments and cutting-edge electronics, brings irresistible nuances and colors to Middle Eastern culture.
