Sweeney | "Stay For The Sorrow" | Sound In Silence | 2022
|

Jason Sweeney, a composer and singer based in Kaurna Country, South Australia, has been working for 20 years. He participates in various projects such as Other People's Children, Pretty Boy Crossover and solo project under the moniker of Sweeny and his side project Panoptique Electrical.
Sweeny released a new album after his previous album "Misery Peaks" published in 2021 on Sound In Silence based in Athens. This time “Stay The Sorrow” delivers 10 pop-ambient songs with nods to post-rock that exude melancholy for the loss of an unrequited love.. There is pain and heartbreak is reflected in piano notes full of longing. “The Break Up” reveals the emotional charge through thin synth lines. Together with some sounds of the countryside that appear in “Home Song” with the footsteps of someone saying goodbye, while Melinda Pianoroom's gorgeous saxophone unfolds giving an air of elegance to this song. “Fallen Trees Where Houses Meet” is a cosmic journey where the refrains of the synthesizer invite the listener to immerse in it. “You Will Move On” is a song with pain whose electronic textures create a space of a certain abstraction in which this sorrow unfolds in the void. The slow rhythmic base in “Stay For The Sorrow”, which gives this album its title, unveils the sadness of the pop song.
“I Will Be Replaced” closes this album, which is certainly an honest and painful title, where the saxophone farewells this song and album composed by a 21st century crooner.
