Steve Roden vive y trabaja en Pasadena, California. Su obra abarca pintura, dibujo, escultura, escritura, sonido, cine/video y performance. Roden tiene una discografía de alrededor de 50 discos, numerosas colaboraciones y compilaciones.

Room40 junto a Roden producirán una serie de piezas de archivo remasterizadas, donde muchas de ellas se editaron en cantidades limitadas por su sello Inbetween Noise. Es el caso de "Stars of Ice” que fue editado originalmente por New Plastic Music en 2008.

Lowercase es un género que popularizó Steve Roden en el campo de la música ambiente y minimalismo, en el que se presentan sonidos muy silenciosos, algunos de ellos casi imperceptibles al oído humano. Roden ejemplificó este género en su álbum "Forms of Paper", amplificando el ruido de arrugar un papel.

"Stars of Ice” tiene precisamente estas texturas minimalistas que, como telón de fondo emerge el siseo de un vinilo, que se mantiene como una fina capa de sonido. Como buen escultor, Roden es detallista y escoge la música de viejas canciones, como también voces que utiliza en un loop, evocando lugares y paisajes del Medio Oriente.

La música de Roden invita a una escucha profunda donde los pequeños sonidos van configurando imágenes, historias, sensaciones que estremecen por su delicadeza.

Steve Roden is based in Pasadena, California. His work ranges painting, drawing, sculpture, writing, sound, film / video and performance. His discography is over 50 albums, several collaborations and compilations appearances. 

Room40 and Roden will produce a series of remastered archive pieces, many of which were released in a limited run on his Inbetween Noise imprint.

Lowercase is a genre popularized by Steve Roden in the field of ambient music and minimalism, in which very quiet sounds are presented, even almost imperceptible to the human ear. Roden exemplified this genre on his "Forms of Paper" album, amplifying the noise of crumpling paper.

"Stars of Ice” has precisely these minimalist textures that, as a backdrop,  the hiss of a vinyl emerges, holds as a thin layer of sound. As a good sculptor, Roden is detailed and chooses the music of old songs, as well as voices that he uses in a loop, evoking places and landscapes of the Middle East.

Roden's music invites a deep listening where the small sounds configure images, stories, sensations that shudder due to their delicacy.
