Desde 1999 nuestro protagonista viene componiendo y editando sus propios discos, a excepción de este nuevo álbum en el sello londinense The Slow Music Movement y el tema “Afterglow” incluido en el compilado “Future Folk: Friendly Faces; Different Spaces”, también publicado en el mismo sello.

En opinión de Richie aka The Howard… este disco, en el que tocó sólo guitarra de acero con pedales, fue compuesto, grabado y mezclado en junio de 2020 - en plena pandemia -, se “convirtió en una experiencia catártica y calmante”. En los siete tracks que componen este álbum, se respira en cámara lenta, evocando paisajes sonoros con texturas electrónicas minimalistas que planean a nuestro alrededor. Las líneas melódicas sugieren atisbos sutiles al folk y al country, especialmente cuando adquieren cierto dinamismo y un leve pulso rítmico. No obstante en este viaje predomina el Ambient, (de los géneros musicales más benevolentes y bellos que existen. Si éste fuera más popular, probablemente los seres humanos se darían un espacio para reflexionar y hacer un alto en el camino para estar más conscientes del próximo que dan), siendo la columna vertebral en este disco. 

"High & Lonesome" desde luego está más arriba, en lo alto, pero es posible llegar hasta allí y por cierto, no se siente solitario. Habemos muchos que en estos tiempos convulsos,  buscamos aislarnos o nos sentimos solos(as).

Since 1999 our protagonist has been composing and self-releasing his albums, with the exception of this new album published on the London label The Slow Music Movement, and the song “Afterglow” included in the compilation “Future Folk: Friendly Faces; Different Spaces”, also released on the same imprint.

In opinion of Richie aka The Howard... this album, in which he played only pedal steel guitar and composed, recorded and mixed in June 2020 -in the heart of the pandemic-, ‘the whole process became a cathartic and calming experience’. In the seven tracks that make up this album, it breathes in slow motion, evoking soundscapes with minimalist electronic textures that hover around us. The melodic lines suggest subtle hints of folk and country, especially when they acquire a certain dynamism and a slight rhythmic pulse. However, on this trip Ambient predominates, (one of the most benevolent and beautiful musical genres that exist. If this were more popular, human beings would probably give themselves a space to reflect and stop along the way to be more aware of the next one they give), and is the backbone on this record.

"High & Lonesome" is certainly higher up, but it's possible to get there and it certainly doesn't feel lonely. There are many of us who in these convulsive times, seek to isolate ourselves or feel alone.
