Este es el segundo álbum del australiano Mark Harwood en solitario, quien además tiene otros discos en colaboración con otros artistas como el músico inglés Graham Lambkin (quien mezcló y editó este disco), que dirigiera el destacado y ahora desaparecido sello Kye (donde Glorias Navales vio editado su álbum “Cofradía Naútica”). Harwood también trabaja bajo el seudónimo de Astor.

“Offering” se editó en la etiqueta Penultimate Press de propiedad de Mark Harwood con base en la capital británica.

Harwood con su guitarra acústica, voz, cintas y diferentes objetos, despliega en este álbum de nueve tracks, una propuesta sonora que se desenvuelve libremente a través de experimentar mezclando grabaciones, punteando clavijas de algún objeto, utilizando la voz como otro instrumento más (generando textos, cantando, balbuceando, gruñendo), introduciendo riffs de guitarra, ruidos metálicos y de otros materiales. Con ello, Harwood crea paisajes sonoros inquietantes, así como otros esperanzadores como “Song of Salvation”, aunque éste es interrumpido por una música marcial que ciertamente atemoriza por el contexto mundial que estamos viviendo. “After Esha” con sus enredados acordes de guitarra que invitan a ambiente más sosegado, se contrasta drásticamente con el ruido desquiciado y el intento de canto en “Alba's Abscence”. Pacífico y misterioso es como describe Harwood a la Amazonía en “Amazonian Prayer” incluyendo cantos de pájaros e insectos que sucumben al tañir de una campana que perdura por algunos minutos. “Violence (Screaming)” se empecina por incursionar por vericuetos oscuros, mientras jadea nuestro protagonista con su voz sórdida. Cerrando este disco con “Finally (If Only)”, Harwood junto a la melódica canta desafinando sin complejos.

Este disco permite que el oyente encuentre su propio viaje, desde aquellos turbulentos a otros intimistas y calmos.

This is the second solo album by Australian artist Mark Harwood who also has released other albums in collaboration with other musicians such as UK’s Graham Lambkin (did the mixed and edited this album), who run the renown and now defunct Kye imprint (where Glorias Navales saw his album “Cofradía Naútica” released). Harwood also works under the moniker of Astor.

‘Offering’ was released on the Penultimate Press label owned by Mark Harwood based in London.

Harwood craft his music with acoustic guitar, voice, tapes and several objects, unfolds in this nine-track album, a sound proposal that unfolds freely through experimenting by mixing tapes, plucking pins on some object, using the voice as another instrument (generating texts, singing, babbling, growling), introducing guitar riffs, noises metallic and other materials. With this, Harwood creates disturbing soundscapes, as well as other hopeful ones such as ‘Song of Salvation’, although it is interrupted by martial music that is certainly frightening due to the world context, we are living in. ‘After Esha’ with its tangled guitar chords that invite a peaceful atmosphere, contrasts drastically with the crazy noise and the attempt at singing in ‘Alba's Absence’. Peaceful and mysterious is how Harwood describes the Amazon in ‘Amazonian Prayer’ including songs of birds and insects that succumb to the ringing of a bell that lasts for a few minutes. ‘Violence (Screaming)’ insists on venturing into dark twists and turns, while our protagonist gasps with his sordid voice. Closing this album with ‘Finally (If Only)’, Harwood, along with the melodica, sings out of tune without complexes.

This album allows the listener to find their own journey from those turbulent to others intimate and calm.
