“Occam XXV” compuesta por Éliane Radigue e interpretada por Frédéric Blondy es una sola pieza de 44 minutos encargada por Organ Reframed, el festival de música experimental único en su género, exclusivamente para órganos y comisariada por Claire M Singer. Se grabó el 8 de enero de 2020 en la iglesia Union Chapel de Londres, cuyo órgano fue construido por el Padre Henry Willis en 1877.

Éliane Radigue nació en París y estudió técnicas de música electroacústica en el Studio d'essai de la Radio Televisión Francesa, bajo la dirección de Pierre Schaeffer y Pierre Henry (1957-58). Después de trabajar con la música electroacústica y más tarde con la síntesis modular, Radigue se enfoca básicamente a escribir para instrumentos acústicos.

Frédéric Blondy se dedicó a la música, primero como pianista de jazz y posteriormente como alumno del Conservatorio Nacional de Burdeos donde estudió piano..

Claire M Singer de Escocia, es compositora e intérprete de música acústica y electrónica, cine e instalaciones y directora musical de la Union Chapel. Es conocida por su enfoque experimental del órgano y el violonchelo. Sus discos se editan bajo la etiqueta Touch. 

Radigue señala que esta obra está centrada en los microritmos, las pulsaciones de bajo que son sonidos intangibles. De hecho, el comienzo es un zumbido de muy baja frecuencia, casi inaudible que luego se convierte en un dron. Se produce una onda sonora lineal con muy pocas variaciones que crea la atmósfera apropiada para centrarse en el sonido penetrante e hipnótico. El espacio se llena con los timbres y resonancias mostrando así las infinitas posibilidades sonoras que entrega este órgano.

“Occam XXV” composed by Éliane Radigue and performed by Frédéric Blondy is a 44-minute solo piece commissioned by Organ Reframed, an experimental music festival dedicated only for organs and curated by Claire M Singer. It was recorded on January 8, 2020 at the Union Chapel church in London, whose organ was built by Father Henry Willis in 1877.

Éliane Radigue was born in Paris and studied electroacoustic music techniques at the Studio d'essai of French Radio Television, under the direction of Pierre Schaeffer and Pierre Henry (1957-58). After working in electroacoustic music and later with modular synthesis, Radigue basically focused on writing for acoustic instruments.

Frédéric Blondy devoted himself to music, first as a jazz pianist and later as a student at the Bordeaux National Conservatory where he studied piano.

Claire M Singer from Scotland, is a composer and performer of acoustic and electronic music, film and installations, and Music Director of the Union Chapel. She is known for her experimental approach to the organ and cello. Her albums are released by Touch.

Radigue points out that this work is focused on micro beats, the bass pulsations that are intangible sounds. In fact, the 40 minutes track only starts with a very low frequency, almost inaudible hum that then turns into a drone. Unfolding a linear sound wave with micro variations creating the right atmosphere to focus on the penetrating and hypnotic sound. The space is filled with timbres and resonances thus showing the endless sound possibilities that this organ offers.
