Abraham Fogg | “Blåkulla“ | Halloween Sound | 2021

The French audiovisual duo Abraham Fogg of Grégoire Vaillant and Charles-Edouard Dangelser, alongside Manchester Camerata Orchestra collaborators Bill Ryder Jones, offer dark live performances that resemble a pagan mass. The short films mix electronic, techno and chamber music. All these performances are called “Blåkulla” after the name of a mythical island in northern Europe where, every year, the Devil gathers the witch to celebrate the Sabat.

"Circle", the album's opener is a classical music with string sessions that is complemented by ambient keyboards, creating an intriguing atmosphere that is shrouded in a mystery that is not yet unraveled. "Le Vol Des Sorcières" has a driving beat accompanied by beautiful and nostalgic strings. While "The Devil's Appearance" has a dramatic and cinematic character that reveals the appearance of the evil. "Exorcism" on the other hand sounds eerie, while the powerful bass lines and kick-drums on "Money" draw a dark horizon. "The Magician" offers a soothing piano and strings piece.

Abraham Fogg transports us with its expansive music to those dark and mythological stories where the mystery is as attractive as it is harrowing.
