Zoku Metsu | “Zoku Metsu” | Alrealon Musique | 2021

Noviembre 2021

This band is made up of Zoku Metsu, hailing from the Brooklyn improv scene, along with electronic musician Robert L. Pepper (Pas Musique, The Jazzfakers), founder member of the Alrealon Musique label, and alongwith avant-garde guitarist and songwriter Ron Anderson (PAK, The Molecules, Ronruins).

The album is an amalgam of distorted guitar effects and dislocated electronics with motorik rhythms that evoke krautrock. In the versatile “Undulations One & Two” the guitar picks become infinite, while the synthetic noises winks at Faust and by the end of this song, amazing and frenetic techno beats emerge. “Obituary” with a dry and cutting riff is accompanied by crushing beats. The final track "Science in 3D" unfurls with hovering electronics and synthesizer random notes envelop in a retro futuristic halo. While a thumping chord is suspended in the air and ambient keyboards fly around. This album with its retro-futuristic and avant-garde style the sounds shape onto an unpredictable world.
