Investigador en informática teórica e ingeniero de GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales), el francés Matthias Puech, lanza un nuevo disco en el sello galo Nahal Recordings.

En este disco se encuentran la electroacústica, las grabaciones de campo, el ambient y sintetizadores que el mismo diseña y desarrolla, destacando el Oscillator Ensemble y el Tapographic Delay, realizados por la compañía americana 4ms.

El comienzo es intrigante con “Hollow” con el ruido metálico como si fueran latigazos mientras los dispositivos electrónicos generan un sonido apretado y oscuro. “Work Song” es silencioso con sus capas oscilantes y caja de ritmos a medio tiempo. “Chrysalis” nos presenta una electrónica abstracta con sonidos agudos y sombríos, junto al ruido de objetos. “Tunnel Vision” nos lleva a un ambiente bucólico en el que se escuchan campanillas de lo que podría ser un rebaño de ovejas. “A Faint Beacon” las capas de drones se interrumpen por sonidos de pájaros, de lluvia y ritmos soterrados sintéticos que se ralentizan en “Homeostasis”, no obstante hay un in crescendo cuando se intensifican los diferentes capas de registros de campo y sintes ambientales.

Matthias Puech crea atmósferas extrañas y espeluznantes en lo que podrían considerarse ambientes tranquilos.

Frenchman Matthias Puech, a researcher in theoretical computer science and engineer at GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales), released a new album on the French Nahal Recordings.

On this album there are electroacoustics, field recordings, ambient and synthesizers that Matthias designs and develops, highlighting the Oscillator Ensemble and the Tapographic Delay, made by the American company 4ms.

The beginning of the álbum is intriguing with “Hollow” with a metallic noise like whiplash while the electronic devices generate a tight and dark sound. “Work Song” is quiet with its rocking layers and midtempo beats. "Chrysalis" presents abstract electronics with sharp and dark sounds, along with the noise of objects. "Tunnel Vision" takes us to a bucolic environment in which bells are heard of what could be a flock of sheep. "A Faint Beacon" the drone layers are interrupted by bird songs, rain and synthetic underground rhythms that slow down on "Homeostasis", however there is an in crescendo when the different layers of field recordings and ambient synths lines intensify.

Matthias Puech builds uncanny and eerie atmospheres in what could be considered quiet environments.
