El cuarteto lo componen Kyle Bruckmann: oboe, corno inglés, Tom Djll: trompeta, Jacob Felix Heule: tom de piso y Kanoko Nishi-Smith: koto (el koto pertenece a la familia de las cítaras y proviene de la citará china Guzheng y es el instrumento nacional de Japón).
Este cuarteto lleva tiempo reuniéndose, desarrollando contextos de improvisación, intercambiando sonidos a veces imperceptibles, donde el silencio juega un rol de intriga, tensión. Así también surgen fragmentos abstractos e impredecibles, una suerte de sublenguaje de los propios instrumentos que no se distinguen por los sonidos que les son conocidos, sino que aquí hay un tratamiento que cada artista realiza, con el uso de distintos materiales que se frotan sobre los instrumentos o se insertan en éstos. No hay dispositivos electrónicos que estén interviniendo, por lo tanto los sonidos quejumbrosos, agudos y crudos, son propios del trabajo de estos artistas.
“Brittle Feebling“ es un disco a escuchar detenidamente para apreciar un trabajo de improvisasión de vanguardia, sin complejos, haciendo arte por el arte.

The quartet is made up of Kyle Bruckmann: oboe, English horn, Tom Djll: trumpet, Jacob Felix Heule: floor tom and Kanoko Nishi-Smith: koto (the koto belongs to the zither family and comes from the Chinese Guzheng zither and is the national instrument of Japan).
This quartet has been meeting for a long time, developing contexts of improvisation, exchanging sometimes imperceptible sounds, where silence plays a role of intrigue, tension. Thus, abstract and unpredictable fragments also emerge, a kind of sublanguage of the instruments themselves that are not distinguished by the sounds that are known to them, but here is a treatment that each artist performs, with the use of different materials that are rubbed on the instruments or inserted into them. There are no electronic devices that are intervening, therefore the whining, sharp and raw sounds are part of the work of these artists.
"Brittle Feebling" is an album to listen to carefully to appreciate avant-garde improvisational work, without complexes, making art for art's sake.
