El dúo americano de art-rock compuesto por Laura Mariposa Williams (voz, teclado, guitarra) y Eric Angelo Bessel (percusión, teclado, guitarra) formaron Lore City en 2011. 

La pareja reside en Portland, Oregon y edita su tercer album de studio, “Alchemical Task” (2020), un cruce entre Mára (Sige Records), Lycia (Project Records) y Loveslovecrushing. Una combinación de dark-wave, rock místico, dream-pop, en donde convergen los ritmos ceremoniales, la épica y la nostalgia. 

El embrujo de las notas de piano en “Separateness” - que abre este álbum - el tambor ritualista y las guitarras deslizantes que se pierden en el horizonte tocan el crepúsculo del amanecer cuando todo toma forma y color. Ya quisiera acariciar ese momento y hacerlo eterno. Esta canción no quiero que se termine porque la melodía es preciosa y los coros de Laura embellecen aún más esta magnífica experiencia.

Los loop de guitarras ambientales en “Beacon of Light”, las susurrantes palabras de Laura crean un espacio idóneo para levitar por el espacio.

La melodía ensoñadora y la voz celestial de Laura llega a lo más alto del firmamento “Into Your Blue”. “Beyond Done” nos sugiere un ambiente oscuro con sus líneas de teclados ambientales y coros. “Don’t Be Afraid” es una hermosa canción de pop onírico que cierra este disco envolvente y bello.

En mi opinión unode los mejores discos de este año.

The American art-rock duo of Laura Mariposa Williams (voice, keyboard, guitar) and Eric Angelo Bessel (percussion, keyboard, guitar) formed Lore City in 2011.

The couple lives in Portland, Oregon and releases their third studio album, “Alchemical Task” (2020), a cross between Mára (Sige Records), Lycia (Project Records), and Loveslovecrushing. A combination of dark-wave, mystical rock, dream-pop, where ceremonial rhythms, epic and nostalgia converge. 

The bewitchment of the piano notes on “Separateness” - which opens the album - the ritualistic drum and the sliding guitars that disappear on the horizon, touch the twilight of dawn when everything takes shape and color. I would like that moment and make it eternal. I don't want this song to end because the melody is beautiful and Laura's chorus embellishes this magnificent experience even more.

The ambient guitar loops on “Beacon of Light”, Laura's whispering words create an ideal space to levitate through space.

Laura's dreamy melody and heavenly voice reaches the top of the sky "Into Your Blue." Meanwhile "Beyond Done" suggests a dark environment with its keyboard ambient lines and backing vocals. “Don’t Be Afraid” is a beautiful dream pop song that closes this enveloping and beautiful album.

In my opinion this is one of the best albums of the year.
