Abyss X quien proviene de Creta, Grecia y comienza a incursionar en la música en 2015. Ex bailarín profesional, director de teatro y diseñador de videos. Tiene una licenciatura en Ciencias de la Computación, una Maestría en performance en la Central St Martins en Londres y también es ex alumna del departamento de Negocios de la Música en UCLA. 

Abyss quien dirige el sello SHXME combina varios géneros como la música del mundo, el pop, el jazz, el techno, el ruido y el trip hop. 

“Innuendo”, su álbum debut es una amalgama sonora en la que emerge el uso de su rango vocal de 4 octavas, una electrónica manipulada con maestría, con retazos experimentales y que rápidamente envuelve hacia atmósferas de sonido extensas y texturalmente densas, que seguramente sumergirán al oyente en su mundo único, sugerente, oscuro y cautivador.

“Love Altercation” despliega un trip-hop embriagador e hipnótico con su ritmo que invita al baile. Así también “Attraction in Doubt” con sus beats palpitantes y el canto-hablado de Abyss. La voz distorsionada en “The New Now” y el techno motorik me hace recordar a Luke Slater y su proyecto 7th Plain.

Finaliza este interesante álbum con el trip-hop atmosférico “Sharp Tounge” invita al oyente a mover la cabeza y el cuerpo al mismo tiempo para dejarse llevar por su hipnótico ritmo.

Abyss X who hails from Crete, Greece and began to dabble in music in 2015. Former professional dancer, theater director and video designer. She holds a degree in Computer Science, a Masters in Performance from Central St Martins in London and she is also an alumni of the Music Business department at UCLA 

Abyss who runs the SHXME label combines various genres such as world music, pop, jazz, techno, noise and trip hop.

“Innuendo”, his debut album is a sonic amalgamation in which the use of her 4-octave vocal range emerges, a masterfully manipulated electronics, with experimental scraps that evolves into sprawling, texturally dense atmospheres of sound, sure to immerse the listener into her unique world.

“Love Altercation” displays an intoxicating and hypnotic trip-hop with its rhythm that invites to dance. So also “Attraction in Doubt” with its driving beats and the singing-talk of Abyss. The distorted voice on “The New Now” and the techno motorik reminds me of Luke Slater’s 7th Plain project.

This mazing album ends with the atmospheric trip-hop “Sharp Tounge” that invites the listener to move his/her head and body at the same time to let themselves be carried away by its hypnotic rhythm.
