Jan St. Werner | "Molocular Meditation" | Editions Mego | 2020

Jan St. Werner is a renowned artist who is part of the Mouse On Mars duo and who since the early 1990s has released 10 solo albums.

"Molocular Meditation" was premiered at the Cornerhouse venue in Manchester in 2014. The vocals and guitar were recorded at Blueprint Studios in Manchester and electronics at Werner's studio in Berlin.

Side B consists of a new unreleased new work written in part at the same time as “Molocular Meditation”, in the context of Werner's Fiepblatter Catalog on the Thrill Jockey label.

The predominant voice on this album is provided by Mark E. Smith, the late leader of the famed post-punk band The Fall.

His speach is focused on mundane objects, events that are related to his criticism of the apolitical British upper class. His signature Smithian voice and mocking accent take precedence over an electroacoustic musical background, with choppy sounds and repetitive electrical pulses. This peculiar combination contains an extravagant speach together with an abstract, non-linear and disruptive musical context.
