Colin Self es un artista, compositor y coreógrafo residente en Berlín y Nueva York. Self trabaja con comunidades de diferentes disciplinas y prácticas, utilizando voces, cuerpos y computadoras.
El registro vocal de Self varía de un alto registro a uno sorprendentemente bajo, lo que prueba la versatilidad de este artista que despliega en “Dispossessed” bellas líneas ambientales de sintetizador con un carácter épico que se complementa con la voz celestial y que por momentos son cercanas a una canción pop. “Once More” es el punto más alto de este disco por la maravillosa atmósfera que Self crea con su voz que vuela por los aires y se matiene allí arriba con una soltura y liviandad propia de un gran artista.
En “Polyvagal” las líneas ácidas de un teclado que también van marcando un ritmo 4/4 en la veta techno, mientras la voz de Self serpentea y transforma y languidece por oscuros laberintos. “Survival (Planningtorock Remix)” muestra algunas líneas clásicas de sesiones de cuerdas y una estructura de canción pop.
El carácter mutante de Self es como una piel con varias capas, desde lo clásico al pop, pasando por la música de baile.

Colin Self is an artist, composer and choreographer based in Berlin and New York. Self works with communities of different disciplines and practices, using voices, bodies and computers.
Self's vocal record varies from a high register to a surprisingly low one, which proves the versatility of this artist who displays in “Dispossessed” beautiful synthesizer ambient lines with an epic character that is complemented by the celestial voice that at times is close to a pop song. "Once More" is the highest point of this album since the wonderful atmosphere that Self creates with his voice that flies through the air and stays up there with a ease and lightness typical of a great artist.
On "Polyvagal" the keyboard acid lines also mark a 4/4 rhythm in the techno vein, while Self's voice hovers and transforms and languishes through dark labyrinths. And to close the album, “Survival (Planningtorock Remix)” shows some classic lines of string sessions and pop song structure.
Self’s mutant character of is like a skin with several layers, which reveals from classic to pop, and dance music.
