Formado en 1987 por Chris Abrahams en piano,
Tony Buck, batería y Lloyd Swanton en bajo, es una de la bandas icónicas de
Australia que sacan el disco número 20 en su carrera musical.
En esta oportunidad a diferencia de sus
discos anteriores, “Body” tiene cuatro secciones bien identificadas y como la
mayoría de los disco del trío, las largas composiciones se desarrollan entre la
improvisación y la composición más estucturada.
En la primera pieza de casi 18 minutos, la
batería proporciona un ritmo sostenido con los platillos, mientras las
pulsaciones del bajo trepidan suavemente, el piano cubre con su manto todo el
contorno y propone líneas que reverberan a través del órgano Hammond.
En la segunda pieza se aprecia una tensa
calma con los baños del órgano junto un diálogo entre el bajo, el piano y el órgano
que viene a ser prólogo previo al estallido de rock, donde emergen los filudos
punteos de guitarra, el marcado ritmo de la batería y las pronunciadas notas
del piano de la tercera sección.
El sigilo y tintineo de las campanillas amplían
el espacio sonoro en la cuarta sección, con una esporádica percusión y flotantes
notas de piano.
“Body” invita a un viaje para descubrir los
matices sonoros que se desarrollan durante este periplo.

Swanton on bass, The Necks is one of the iconic bands in Australia. They have released
their 20th album in their musical career.
On this occasion, unlike his previous albums, "Body" has four
well-identified sections and like most of the trio's albums, the long
compositions are developed between improvisation and the most structured
composition.
In the first piece of almost 18 minutes the drums provide a sustained
rhythm with the cymbals, while the pulsations of the bass tremble gently, the
piano covers the entire contour with its mantle and proposes lines that
reverberate through the Hammond organ.
In the second piece, there is a tense calm with the organ washes along
with a dialogue between bass, piano and the organ that comes to be prologue
prior to the outbreak of rock, where the sharp guitar picks emerge, the marked
rhythm of the drums and the pronounced piano notes of the third section.
The stealth and tinkling of the bells amplify the sound space in the
fourth section, with sporadic percussion and floating piano notes.
"Body" invites a trip to discover the sound nuances that
develop during this journey.
