URUK es un dúo de música experimental fundado en 2016 por los músicos Thighpaulsandra y Massimo Pupillo.

Timothy Lewis aka Thipaulsandra a temprana edad estudió cuerno francés, órgano de iglesia y piano. Es un multiinstrumentista activo desde 2001.

Ha participado en los álbumes “Musick to Play in the Dark (1999)“ y “Astral Disaster” (1999) de Coil, grupo legendario del underground inglés y tocó en varios de sus otros álbumes. Se unió a la banda Spiritualized de Jason Pierce para una gira en vivo por Estados Unidos.

Massimo Pupillo es un músico, bajista, improvisador y compositor de Roma, Italia. Está activo desde 2005 con una discografía de más de 30 discos. Es mejor conocido como el bajista de Zu, un trío italiano de jazzcore, con el que ha producido más de quince álbumes. Asimismo ha colaborado con varios músicos, como Dälek, David Chalmin o en el reciente This Immortal Coil. 

Este es el cuarto álbum de URUK que pertenece a la serie Mind Travels del sello francés Ici d'ailleurs y que contiene dos largos temas con una atmósfera espectral, oscura y notas sintéticas ambientales con guiños a la música clásica, además de texturas electrónicas y grabaciones con el canto de pájaros que comprende “Per speculum in aenigmates”, la primera pieza, que parece sacada de un acto solemne.

“Radiating Rainbows”, el segundo track y que cierra este álbum, es una pieza que se expande por el espacio, matizado con pequeños ruidos que parece fueran esquirlas del espacio sideral, mientras los pads de sintetizadores entran y salen de escena, junto a coros angelicales.

URUK es música contemplativa que viene de un mundo enigmático, esotérico y por sobre todo inquietante.

URUK is an experimental music duo founded in 2016 by musicians Thighpaulsandra and Massimo Pupillo.

Timothy Lewis aka Thipaulsandra studied French horn, church organ and piano at an early age. He is an active multi-instrumentalist since 2001.

He has participated in the albums “Musick to Play in the Dark (1999)” and “Astral Disaster” (1999) by Coil, a legendary English underground group, and played on several of their other albums. He joined Jason Pierce's band Spiritualized for a live tour in the United States.

Massimo Pupillo is a musician, bassist, improviser and composer from Rome, Italy. He has been active since 2005 with a discography of over 30 albums. He is best known as the bassist for Zu, an Italian jazzcore trio, with whom he has produced over fifteen albums. He has also collaborated with several musicians, such as Dälek, David Chalmin or the recent This Immortal Coil.

This is the fourth album by URUK that belongs to the Mind Travels series of the French label Ici d'ailleurs and contains two long-form tracks with a spectral, dark atmosphere and ambient synthetic notes with nods to classical music, as well as electronic textures and recordings of bird chirps that comprises “Per speculum in aenigmates”, the first piece, that seems taken from a solemn act. “Radiating Rainbows”, the second track that closes this album, is a piece that expands through space, nuanced with small noises that seem like splinters from outer space, while the synthesizer pads fade in and out from scene, along side angelical choirs.

URUK is contemplative music that comes from an enigmatic, esoteric and above all disquieting world.
