Junk DNA es uno de los apodos del californiano Brian Pyle quien además tiene el proyecto Ensemble Economique, es parte del dúo The Starving Weirdos y del trío RV Paintings. Pyle trabaja con las atmósferas en sus proyectos y Junk DNA no es la excepción, acoplándose perfectamente en la línea musical post-industrial y experimental del sello que dirige Jim Haynes. 

“Darbo Gatve” apertura este álbum con una gruesa capa de pads de sintetizador, grabaciones de objetos que refriega, agua y silbidos atmosféricos de sintetizador. “Kopk Kopa” muestra una atmósfera brumosa y escalofriante, en la que bien podemos atravesar hacia una nueva dimensión. “Ryder ACAB” es un viaje hacia el interior que delata sombrías armonías. “In The Distance, Kaliningrad” se desenvuelve en un drone vacilante y oscuro que se sigue expandiendo en “Enclave”. “+K+M+B” si bien muestra tonos melódicos y ambientales, aún conserva ese halo inquietante que cruza todo el disco. En “Minus 10, Alone in the Forest” el sonido se encuentra soterrado, en un bajo volumen, deambulando en las profundidades. “Spring Seems So Far From Now” que cierra el álbum, despliega un tono sostenido con mínimas variaciones, al que luego de algunos minutos se agregan otros tonos más agudos.

Junk DNA es un viaje inmersivo hacia territorios desconocidos que mantienen al oyente inquieto y expectante.

Junk DNA is one of the monikers of Californian Brian Pyle who also run the solo project Ensemble Economique, is part of the duo The Starving Weirdos and the RV Paintings trio. Pyle works with the atmospheres in his projects and Junk DNA is no exception, fitting in perfectly with the post-industrial and experimental musical vein of the label run by Jim Haynes.

“Darbo Gatve” opens this album with a thick layer of synth pads, recordings of scraping objects, water and atmospheric whoosh of synthesizer. “Kopk Kopa” shows a misty and chilling atmosphere, in which we may well traverse into a new dimension. “Ryder ACAB” is a journey inward that betrays dark harmonies. “In The Distance, Kaliningrad” unravels in a hesitant, dark drone that continues to expand on “Enclave”. “+K+M+B” although it shows melodic and ambient tones, it still retains that disturbing halo that crosses the entire album. In “Minus 10, Alone in the Forest” the sound is buried, at a low volume, wandering in the depths. “Spring Seems So Far From Now” that closes the album, displays a sustained tone with minimal variations, to which other more acute tones are added after a few minutes.

Junk DNA is an immersive journey into unknown territories that keep the listener restless and expectant.
