Este es el segundo disco en solitario publicado este año por el multiinstrumentista británico, Andrew Ostler, después de "Rolling Like A Bullet" (junio, 2022). También en 2022 se publicó "Fallout" del dúo Darkroom, del que Ostler es miembro. 

Este álbum iba a ser una performance videada y publicada en YouTube, por lo que era necesario que los equipos fueran limitados, de este modo se excluía el computador portátil. El músico con base en Edinburgo toca el saxofón, utiliza el sintetizador modular y pedales. Ostler argumenta que el sintetizador modular es un complemento al computador. Esta nueva configuración de equipos a utilizar, fue una buena retroalimentación para la tecnología musical que desarrolla la compañía Expert Sleepers, que también es un sello.

“On the Way Down” - que apertura este álbum consistente en seis piezas de ambient - Ostler procesa electrónicamente el saxofón generando notas sostenidas y modulaciones en las ondas sonoras a través del sintetizador modular. En “Interlude” contiene un loop de varias notas sintetizadas que pululan en el espacio y que parecen presagiar una experiencia inmersiva que continúa en “Seek Whence”. Aquí se respira influencia de la música clásica contemporánea. Un cierto halo tradicional en la armonía, mientras que por otra parte se perfilan acercamientos a la música Kosmische Musik. En “Intralude” el saxofón es más reconocible al no estar procesado electrónicamente y es la antesala a “Fraxinet” - que cierra el álbum - en el que navegan los infinitos drones de saxofón que nos mantienen flotando por el aire.

This is the second solo album released in 2022 by British multiinstrumentalist, Andrew Ostler, after "Rolling Like A Bullet" (June 2022). Also this year was released the “Fallout” album by the duo Darkroom, of which Ostler is member. 

This album was going to be a performance videoed and published on YouTube, so it was necessary that the setup be limited, thus the laptop was excluded. The Edinburg based musician plays the saxophone, uses the modular synthesizer and pedals. Ostler argues that the modular synthesizer has been a complement to the computer. This new configuration of the equipment to be used, was good feedback for the music technology developed by the company Expert Sleepers, which is also a label.

This album consists of six ambient pieces. In the opener “On the Way Down”, Ostler electronically processes the saxophone, generating sustained notes and modulations in the sound waves through the modular synthesizer. In “Interlude” there is a loop of several synthesized notes that swarm in space that seem to herald an immersive experience that continues on “Seek Whence”. The influence of contemporary classical music is breathed here. There is a certain traditional halo in harmony, while on the other hand, approaches to Kosmische Musik are outlined. In “Intralude” the saxophone is more recognizable as it is not electronically processed and it is the prelude to “Fraxinet”, the piece that closes the album, in which the endless saxophone drones navigate and keeps us floating in the air.
