James Murray, compositor y productor británico afincado en Londres está activo desde 2008, con más de 25 discos publicados y buena parte de ellos en Home Normal. Es fundador y curador del sello Slowcraft Records y colabora con Stijn Hüwels como Silent Vigils y con Ian Hawgood bajo el nombre de Slow Reels, entre otros proyectos colaborativos.

Los últimos dos discos de Murray, con trabajos solista en Home Normal, fueron “Killing Ghosts” (2017) y “Falling Backwards” (2018), marcando con el nuevo disco su regreso después de cuatro años al sello dirigido por el músico del Reino Unido, Ian Hawgood. 

“Careful Now” consiste en seis piezas de ambient que abre “Open Secret”, en cuyo fondo una capa de teclados se escucha en segundo plano, en tanto otros ruidos imperceptibles se advierten más cercanos, lo que continua en el segundo track “Clearings”, en el que se aprecian líneas de bajo profundas. “Least Resistance” se sumerge en la marea ambient con drones de guitarra de connotaciones épicas. “Careful Now” tiene un halo nostálgico y al mismo tiempo inquietante con aquellas notas altas que parecen presagiar un final incierto. Las notas sintetizadas en “Borrowed by Bees” configuran una atmósfera apacible que al final del track desaparecen para desplegar una línea ambiental oscura. Finaliza este disco con “Drawing Light” en el que asoma un coro celestial y notas sostenidas en expansión. Murray con este nuevo álbum crea una colección de canciones edificantes, esperanzadoras y especialmente bellas.

James Murray, British composer and producer based in London, has been active since 2008 with more than 25 albums released, most of them on Home Normal. Founder and curator of Slowcraft Records and he collaborates with Stijn Hüwels under de alias of Silent Vigils and with Ian Hawgood as Slow Reels, among other collaborative projects.

Murray's last two albums on Home Normal as a solo artist were ‘Killing Ghosts’ (2017) and ‘Falling Backwards’ (2018), marking with the new album his return after four years to the label run by UK musician, Ian Hawgood.

'Careful Now' consists of six ambient pieces that opens with ‘Open Secret’, whose background is comprised by dense keyboard layers, along with imperceptible noises that are noticed closer, as on the second track “Clearings” too, in which deep bass lines unfold. “Least Resistance” dives into the ambient tide with guitar drones with epic connotations. 'Careful Now' has a nostalgic and at the same time disquieting halo with those high notes that seem to herald an uncertain ending. The synthesized notes on 'Borrowed by Bees' set up a peaceful atmosphere that disappears at the end of the track, to unfold a dark ambient line. Rounding off the album 'Drawing Light', features a heavenly choir and expanding sustained notes. Murray with this new album crafted a collection of uplifting songs that suggest hope for a troubled world.
