En 1974, Richard Pinhas fundó Heldon quien además de músico, es Doctor en Filosofía de la Sorbonne. Posee una extensa discografía en solitario y en colaboración con otros artistas. Destacar por ejemplo, aquella mítica colaboración de Pinhas junto a los peruanos Manongo Mujica y Juan Luis Pereira y los japoneses Hiroshi Higashi y Makoto Kawabata dela banda Acid Mothers Temple, para el álbum “Alturas” (Buh Records, 2020). Pinhas es uno de los músicos experimentales más conocidos en Francia y es figura clave en el desarrollo de la música rock fusionada con la música electrónica. 

Heldom proviene de la tradición del space rock, la psicodelia y el krautrock, géneros con gran ebullición a finales de los ’70. Esta banda la componen Pinhas en guitarra, en el bajo Florian Tatard y en la batería Arthur Nancy. El power trio despliega gran energía y ruido a través de la filosa guitarra, el bajo palpitante y una batería desbordada. 

El título de este álbum iba a ser “@Last”, aludiendo a que sería el último disco según Pinhas, dada una serie de asuntos personales que experimentó, sin embargo, logró recuperarse. En tanto, la realización de este disco fue un proceso curativo que dejó atrás toda la mala onda. 

En este LP la improvisación es predominante en los cinco tracks que lo componen. La guitarra con sus agudos punteos y temblorosos riffs se mantienen como telón de fondo, mientras que sinuosos sintetizadores pululan alrededor, junto a una desenfrenada percusión que se encuentra en un primer plano junto al bajo. La música se desarrolla sin prisa y con gran potencia introduciendo al oyente en un torbellino del cual es difícil de escapar, pero al mismo tiempo logra cautivar. El último track “Antelast Five”, se diferencia de los demás proponiendo guitarras deslizantes con sublimes melodías, e insinuantes hi-hats y esporádicos tambores, hasta que llega el momento en que toman gran impulso los golpes al bombo, pero que se desvanecen rápidamente junto a los aullidos de la guitarra.

Esperamos que no sea este el último disco de Richard Pinhas ya que tiene todavía mucho que entregar.

Pinhas is one of the best-known experimental musicians in France and a key figure in the development of rock music fused with electronic music.

Heldom comes from the tradition of space rock, psychedelia and krautrock, genres that were well-known in the underground in the late '70s. This band is made up of Pinhas on guitar, Florian Tatard on bass and Arthur Nancy on drums. The power trio unleashes great energy and noise through sharp guitar, throbbing bass and overflowing drums.

The title of this album was going to be “@Last”, alluding to the fact that it would be the last album according to Pinhas, given a series of personal issues that he experienced, however, he managed to recover. Whereas, the making of this album was a healing process that left behind all the bad vibes.

In this LP improvisation is predominant in the five tracks that compose it. The guitar with its sharp plucks and quivering riffs remain in the background, while sinuous synths swarm around it, along with unbridled percussion in the foreground alongside the bass. The music unfolds slowly and with great power, introducing the listener into a whirlwind from which it is difficult to escape, but at the same time it manages to captivate. The last track “Antelast Five”, differs from the others by proposing sliding guitars with sublime melodies, insinuating hi-hats and sporadic drums, until the moment comes when the hits to the bass drum take great momentum, but quickly fade together with the guitar howls.

Hope that this is not Richard Pinhas's last album since he still has a lot to give.
