Joshua Trinidad es un renombrado trompetista americano – mejicano que nació en Denver. Reconocido fue su trabajo que lo llevó de gira por Escandinavia, Europa y EE.UU. Ha tocado en varias bandas como The Mars Volta y otros músicos cercanos al jazz, así también ha compuesto música para una banda sonora y su discografía se editó en los sellos RareNoise Records de Londres y Subcontinental Records de Bangalore, India. 

El título del álbum es consecuencia de las preocupaciones que tuvo Trinidad cuando aún no contraía Covid-19 y mientras ya estaba contagiado de este virus. Se preguntaba quién cuidaría de sus hijos, de su señora y qué pasaría con su familia después de su muerte. Este disco es una carta de despedida a su familia y amigos. 

Después de la nota de prensa pensé que me iba a encontrar con un álbum ruidoso y angustiante, sin embargo, las 10 canciones flotan por el espacio con total tranquilidad, donde una pocas notas del piano eléctrico, la trompeta y la electrónica son la base sonora de este disco. 

“Drip Pulse” es uno de esos temas que tiene soterrados pulsos rítmicos, mientras la trompeta serpentea, mientras que en “Birth” y “Lush” el sintetizador modular toma protagonismo relevando una secuencia de carácter épico. “Shelter” me evoca a la Kosmische Musik y las envolventes líneas melódicas en “Lament for Kondo” exudan nostalgia, mientras que “Morning Bells” con la participación de la cantante Kal Cahoone, corona este álbum conmovedor, frágil y delicado.

Joshua Trinidad is a renowned American-Mexican trumpeter who was born in Denver. Recognized was his work that took him on tour to Scandinavia, Europe and the USA. He has played in several bands such as The Mars Volta and other musicians close to jazz genre, as well as having composed music for a soundtrack. His discography was published in the labels RareNoise Records of London and Subcontinental Records from Bangalore, India.

The title of the album is a consequence of the concerns that Trinidad had when he had not yet contracted Covid-19 and while he was already infected with this virus. He wondered who would take care of his children, his wife, and what would happen to his family after his death. This album is a farewell letter to his family and friends.

After reading the press release I thought I was going to find myself with a noisy and distressing album, however, the 10 songs float through space with total tranquility, where a few electric piano notes, the trumpet and electronics are the sound base. of this record.

“Drip Pulse” is one of those songs that has buried driving pulses where the trumpet meanders. In “Birth” and “Lush” the modular synthesizer takes center stage, revealing an epic sequences. “Shelter” reminds me of Kosmische Musik and the enveloping melodic lines in “Lament for Kondo” exude nostalgia, while “Morning Bells” featuring singer Kal Cahoone crowns this poignant, fragile and delicate album.
