Robert Crouch es un artista sonoro y curador residente en Los Ángeles, California que incorpora el sonido, la tecnología, el movimiento y la performance.

Ha trabajado con una amplia gama de artistas, incluyendo a William Basinski, Richard Chartier, Tim Hecker, Isis, Mamiffer, Carsten Nicolai, Yann Novak, Steve Roden y Terre Thaemlitz, entre otros artistas. Ha editado discos en los sellos Dragon’s Eye Recordings, Line y Touch.

Recuerdo que en 2015 Crouch realizó en Santiago de Chile una instalación sonora para conmemorar el trabajo del artista audio visual chileno Juan Downey y también realizó una íntima presentación en la disquería Needle.

“Jubilee” se inspira en el poeta y anarquista norteamericano quien intenta instalar un discurso relativo al “Gran Jubileo” durante la recesión en 2008 Estados Unidos. El “Jubileo” es una celebración judeocristiana en la que se perdonaron deudas, se devolvieron tierras, se liberaron a los esclavos. Este es parte del texto que reunió Crouch y que en lo musical materializó en tres tracks que comprenden extendidos drones que tiene momentos álgidos que bordean con el ruido y con fragmentos de armonía. Se superponen distintas texturas electrónicas que crean una íntima atmósfera, algo oscura y penetrante. El propósito de Crouch es que el oyente encuentre en este espacio su capacidad para perdonarse.

Robert Crouch is a Los Angeles, California-based sound artist and curator who incorporates sound, technology, movement, and performance.

He has worked with a wide range of artists including William Basinski, Richard Chartier, Tim Hecker, Isis, Mamiffer, Carsten Nicolai, Yann Novak, Steve Roden, and Terre Thaemlitz, among other artists. He has released albums for Dragon's Eye Recordings, Line, and Touch.

I remember that in 2015 Crouch made a sound installation in Santiago de Chile to commemorate the work of Chilean audio visual artist Juan Downey, and also he did an intimate show at Needle record store.

"Jubilee" is inspired by American poet and anarchist who tries to install a speech relating to the "Great Jubilee" during the 2008 recession in the United States. The "Jubilee" is a Judeo-Christian celebration in which debts were forgiven, land was returned, slaves were freed. This is part of the text that Crouch put together and that he musically materialized in three tracks that comprise longform drones that have high moments that border on noise and snippets of harmony. Different electronic textures are superimposed creating an intimate atmosphere, something dark and penetrating. Crouch's purpose is for the listener to create a space for self- forgiveness.
